CoD ghosts is a pile of shit, worst call of duty there is. Large maps where people just sit in one spot, if you play the objective (eg get the tags in kill confirmed, defend a flag in domination etc) you don't get rewarded anything. And that dog that everyone gets in the multiplayer is overpowered and bloody annoying (when the other team has one)

Black Ops 2 is fun, small maps, fast movement, and scorestreaks mean you get rewarded for what you do in the game. Only thing which can get annoying are the snipers, but just have C4s and scavenger equipped, and spam them at the fuckers.

On BO2, do you have it on PS3 or Xbox ? I'm 7th prestige on PS3 as of yet :geek:

New South Park game is pretty good. A few parts got censored in the AU version. Instead of people getting probed by aliens using dildo machines we just get a picture of a crying koala (accompanied by some pretty descriptive text).

I got through 3 levels and then just put the game down. I lost interest quickly. I'll give it another shot at some point now that 24 is back on TV. :lol: But it seems to have lost it's edge compared to what it was on the old Xbox. The first 3 games were great.

No idea what is going on at ubisoft at the moment. The quality of their games has really taken a dive in the past couple of years. It is a good job their marketing team know what they are doing as their games sell well regardless of their quality.

At least the two downloadable games they released this year were good (Valiant Hearts and Child of Light).

Dragon Age Inquisition has been getting great reviews. Been looking forward to that one for a while.

Pretty much. Although I guess the odd thing about it, it does tend to be the crap games I would never take a punt on (by paying money for), like Mafia II so I make sure I download them. Xbox One Games with Gold is terrible generally - Child of Light I think is the only good one there has been.

Still to get Forza Horizon 2, although I still want to get the rally DLC for Forza Horizon before I do that.

Last finished Borderlands :haha: Yes it took me that long to get round to it. The combat is fun but the story is absolute shite. And also Brothers, which ripped my heart out. :(

Bought Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze the other day and started it last night, it's seriously one of the best looking games I've ever played. It's bloody hard as well for a platformer - blows New Super Mario Bros out of the water.

Pretty pleased that Pokemon Blue, Red and Yellow have all been re-released as part of Pokemon's 20th anniversary on 3DS. It means I can finally play Pokemon Yellow after all these years without having to find a GameBoy. Never got to play it first time around, accidentally broke the cartridge by dropping it into water as a kid.

It's only £8.99 on the Nintendo E-Shop on 3DS. Pretty good bargain considering later generations (Ruby etc) for hard copies are much more pricier. I've seen some go for like 80 quid and one immaculate condition one was being sold for thousands :| yikes.

I really like Remedy's games. Max Payne and Alan Wake were awesome. Quantum Break should be great too. Not sure I like the idea of the tv show episodes during the game though.

Huge fan of the Max Payne series but I never got around to playing Alan Wake.

I think most people are sceptical for the TV series part for Quantum Break. I just hope it doesn't interrupt the game or the story so dire you just want to skip it.

Agreed. It could have been, had they bothered to flesh out the story and give a pay-off, for some reason they just didn't bother.

Not one of the main quests provided any satisfying conclusion - the Pagan Min one, Longinus, Yogi and Boo-Boo or whoever the fuck they were and even the Shangri-La ones - a complete waste of time. Oh wow you've decorated your family home in a collage of patterns that gives no benefit at all yet they mention Shangri-La throughout the game?

Ubsioft are the new EA.

I managed to finish the main missions without exploring a good chunk of the map. They really didn't think this one through. Even the level design seemed a bit shitty compared to FC3 because I hardly took advantage of the different takedowns or maybe it's just the way I was playing. Gunplay was better because of the smoother graphics on Xbox one but still not great compared to other 3rd person shooters out.

Thought Pagan Min was going to be a great villain but he was hardly in the game. I really had no idea what was going on with the story to be honest. It really was bad. Ubi Soft are getting lazy. I've got no interest in that Rainbow Six game. No campaign, no sale. I hope they don't screw up Splinter Cell.

Despite not officially being out in the UK I've managed to download it and install it on my phone however the servers are too fucking jammed whenever I try to log on. :mad:

Guess I need to try it during the early morning when the Yanks are all asleep.

The concept is mental but it's quite fun. It's cool that it uses real world locations to provide power ups and additional items, this morning it identified I was at Euston and gave me some Pokeballs. I think some locations are gyms where you go to battle but you literally have to go and walk to the location. If I read the map correctly I think the shopping centre at home in MK is my closest gym. :lol:

I can't imagine the fun lasting more than 5 minutes but it's something different. Quite nostalgic if you were a Pokemon nut as a kid like I was.

Played it for an hour this morning. Was meant to go the Gym but ended up skipping it just to walk about London playing it. Only stopped because it started raining. :lol:

Nearly got run over chasing a Venonat that suddenly appeared across the road. Apart from the usual tripe (Pidgey's, Ratata's, Fearow's, Zubats etc), I did manage to bag a Haunter, Drowzee, Fearow and a Nidoran which I'm pretty proud of.

I love how they integrated Google Maps into it so you can items for reaching real world locations. They seem to refresh after 15 mins so you can always go back to them to get the rewards.

There are quite a few gyms near me but you've got to be level 5 at least to enter them, which I'm not yet. <_<


But yeah I can see how it can tiring after a while, though apparently they're working on introducing new features to make it more in line with the original Pokemon Red/Blue games such as trading and battling. At the moment it's a bit lame that you can only throw pokeballs to catch pokemon and not weaken them first nor are you at the moment able to train up your existing pokemon by battling them with wild pokemon.

Once they do that there's no stopping it taking over the world tbh.

Yeah I've switched to the legitimate version now. As your game data is linked to your google account you don't lose any progress either.

Been playing it like mad the past few days. Managed to take over a few gyms but usually end up losing them after a while when I'm not around. :doh:

Ideally you need to work in a team to take over and then retain gyms ........ on your own you can only do so much especially since the team I'm on (yellow) seems to barely exist where I am. Plus there's no poke centres so you have to use potions and revives to heal pokemon after battles and you can only find them by visiting pokestops :doh: ........ the game does really make you walk around a lot.

Got a few slightly rarer pokemon (Goldeen, Magenemite etc) from eggs and other means but it's almost impossible to level them up and evolve them as you need to catch more of the same ones to gain the necessary candy to evolve them. Also doesn't help that being stuck in a city I only really get access to the same type of city dwelling pokemon most of the time.

I think it's a bit odd there are no Pokecenters to fully heal your team, there are enough Pokestops so surely they could have made a few landmarks into Pokecenters? My team has been destroyed in the gym battles I've had so far, there's no chance I'm going to win any battles yet because the people who run these gyms have ridiculously powerful Pokemon. I suppose you do get plenty of potions and revives but it still seems like an oversight to me.

Got a Charmander from my first egg which was cool but as you say you're never going to evolve it if candies are the only way to do it. Hatching eggs is easy for me though because of my morning commute, hopefully I get a few more of the rarer ones this way.

It all seems quite limited at the moment though, you have to be really militant about it to make real progress. Most people will get bored eventually.

Yeah they really should introduce some pokecentres ..... not at every pokestop but a few round the place so you don't have to constantly exhaust all your potions and revives. :fury:

The battling system is still a bit crap. The key is just ensuring you have the right type (e.g. Water against fire) and having a pokemon of high enough CP. As it's maximum 6 of your pokemon against 3 of a Gym's you can always defeat a few of a gyms' pokemon even if your pokemon don't have high CP's and reduce some of a gym prestige that way. Like I said, you really need to work in a team of people to mount a co-ordinated attack on a gym at the same time to really take it over (I was lucky that the gyms I took over were quite weak at the time).

I've got a ~Level 500 Hypno and Pidgeot and I've probably caught enough Zubats' and Ratata's to have enough candy to get a similar level Goldbat and Raticate soon ........ as for the others, like you say it's difficult to see how the hell I'll ever evolve the likes of my Squirtle or my Vulpix. They really should change the system tbh and only one type of candy which can be used on any pokemon instead of the pokemon specific candy they have now.

Probably. Some of the hype will die down barring some changes but it'd still be massively popular and still probably the biggest game and app ever considering just how many people are playing it right now. And it hasn't even been released in Japan yet ........ the home of Pokemon.

Pokemon's initial success, outside of the merchandising blitz and multimedia takeover, derived from the fact that the actual games were genuinely great.

The Pokemon Go hysteria is a little out of the blue, seeing as it's more a tech showcase and barely a game. But, drawing on that initial sensation and sense of wonder, much like the recent Star Wars film, has reignited a lapsed older audience and brought in millions of new ones. It's just one of those things where everything has aligned at the right time and lightning has struck to create an instant phenomenon. Social crazes like this hold no interest for me, but at least the foundation and basis of the Pokemon franchise is a solid one and the app itself is attempting to create a positive atmosphere.

The next 5-10 years are going to see some crazy leaps in the gaming world. VR consoles come out later in the year I think and when AR gets going (Pokemon Go isn't really AR) then the games out there will be nuts.
