Should be 5/5 really, Villa are not very good.

Hopefully Partey and Zinchenko are back.

No silly mistakes this time please.

2-0.

Elneny is injured for the foreseeable.

Might see Fabio Vieira maybe, with Xhaka not appearing quite so far forward.

That’s the next two games wiped out if we do

Elneny playing is bad enough, but playing Xhaka as a holding midfielder?? :haha:

i'd rather bring in Torreira to be DM - oh..

or Chambers - oh...

or Guendouzi - oh...

but we do still have AMN

Can actually see Saka getting a goal tomorrow, tbf.

You can sense people are waking up to him. I seen a meme about U2 in that no one ever actually thought they were good but they thought everyone else did so just went along with it because they didn't want it to be awkward if they pointed out they were shit. Was thinking you could swap U2 for Saka.

Anyway, goal tomorrow from him to do just enough to prevent the curtain being pulled back fully yet.

Lokonga in for Elneny is the only change from Saturday.

Incredible that the unknown, untested, don't even know where he plays, Lokonga has somehow made it into the team.

No, he's been bought on the basis he's good enough, he needs games, if we don't play him now then when do we?

You know I was being facetious, right?

On account some people thinking the Belgium international, with c100 career appearences, arsenal bought for the best part of £20m not being ready for the enormity of Aston Villa at home.

Hard to tell given you’re a massive cunt

The fact that Xhaka is now taking up Partey’s position shows that he’s not even deputising for Partey

And you say we paid 20million for him as if it’s meant to mean something, we paid 16 million for Calum Chambers

Decent for most of it but still too soft in front of goal. Need to kill this game dead before any silly errors occur.

If Man City played as well as we did in that half they’d be 5 up, we need to sharpen up.

Disappointing result to be honest but as you say it’s a win. I think VAR should have ruled out their goal but not the kind of decision we get

Niall_Quinn
31-08-2022, 08:34 PM
Eddie looks like he could be a player. Martinelli, on the other hand.

Two terrible teams hacking it around the place and barely able to string a pass, except in a few rare moment where it looks like Gerrard might be drilling the basics into his bumpkins. Where was the City defender? Is he injured? Best player on the squad by a mile, excluding Jesus who is also best player by a mile, though criminally underutilised (he has to make it happen all by himself).

Liked the look of Eddie though, the first touch and the instinct to head towards the opponent's goal, which goes against everything Arteta teaches.

Tbf, Martinelli's backpass took Martinez by surprise.

Marc Overmars
31-08-2022, 08:41 PM
First of all, delighted with the fact we’ve made it 5 out of 5.

However I’m a little bit disappointed that again we couldn’t make the dominance count before the game took a freak turn. City won 6-0 tonight and they would have won this game 6-0 too because shit teams aren’t afforded the privilege of throwing sucker punches at them.

On we go to Old Trafford. Where I’m sure it’s all going to end in tears.

On what?

I’d say they’re worth watching for the first time in 10 years (at least).

You either watch it, or you don’t.

I saw a player standing after being substituted still willing his team on.

Far better than watching Wenger chucking a bottle or Gallas slumped on his arse

Jeez, it only took a multi-million quid contract for him to buy-in. Bargain!

I'm not fooled for a second and I judge things on what's watchable and what's not. When every moment is a moment in frustration (except when ex-City players touch the ball), and every frustration was predicted in advance then true, it might not be as blatant as Gallas but it's still very mediocre players wearing the shirts of those who could actually play.

Nobody is fooled here, right? 5 wins out of 5, like Norwich City did at the start of a season many years back. But nobody is fooled. You can watch the quality of the football and easily understand this is a long and inevitable season. Again.

But judge me at the end of the season. Only watched because I was sitting here thinking, what do I watch? Have you seen Netflix recently?

I don’t think anyone is fooled by anything tbh. People are just enjoying the fact that we have a team worth supporting again, you only have to listen to the atmosphere now to understand that. No moans and groans when mistakes happen, no split fanbase, no jumping on players backs, just unconditional support and I think you can visibly see the players feeding off that positivity now.

They’re nowhere near the finished article and I think everyone knows that and isn’t saying otherwise, however for the first time in years I’m actually looking forward to watching Arsenal play and that’s enough for me.

I don’t think you’ll find any gooner here getting carried away for one second. Once, twice, three….nine times bitten eh?

All I see is a group of players who want to win. Moreso than any other bunch for a long fucking time. Yes, it may come crumbling down, bug the point of a supporter is to get behind them to try and aid their cause.

Could I get behind a team who didn’t give a shit, a set up rotten to the core? Nah. Can I at the very least see that the playing staff want to win, yeah.

Or why would you even comment on it.

It was more nervy than it should have been but for the second game in a row we showed good character

Lokonga was very good and hopefully Arteta can start to trust him now

Hope Odegaard's ok, we need him for Sunday
