I’ve no doubt he has it within him to be absolutely quality, but the money that was paid by Chelsea for him was for a player you’d expect to be ready to perform now.


Mudryk always seemed to be an investment for us, someone who was a bit raw who needed time to integrate into the first team.

The sheer absurd amount of money spent on these players means they will not get the time to develop, and will then just be dismissed as expensive flops.

I’ve pretty much written off Lokonga, but you know what? I’d love to be wrong about him and watch him develop as a player at Palace.

Always felt like he was very fortunate to be able to cut his teeth while there were no fans in the ground. I remember that run of form in 20/21 when we lost something like 7 out of 10 games. There was a home defeat to Burnley which left us hovering above the relegation zone and I couldn’t for the life of me see a way out with him.

The Turning point was the game against Chelsea on Boxing Day. Had we lost that game I genuinely think the plug would have been pulled.

Still lost far far too many games for my liking (33 in 116 in the league which is almost 30%) and people can say all they like about how the team he inherited was really bad. It wasn’t that bad, there absolutely was no excuse for that seven defeats in ten run.

He has a lot of Wenger traits in that he’s stubborn and slow to change things up…but lacking any of Wenger’s charisma

It’s such a silly thing to call it a bandwagon (and this isn’t a dig at you because I know you’re just using the term loosely , but the word is redolent of the type of attitude you see on twitter where it’s considered to be part of an agenda…erm listen the only agenda I have is that I want my club to do well). Arteta was doing a shit job back in 2020, the club could have been justified to pull the plug but it decided to stick rather than twist and for the moment that appears to have paid dividends. It is sufficient for me to say that there is unlikely to be any justifiable reason for Arteta not to continue in his role beyond this season as much as I dislike the guy and as much as my reaction to All or Nothing was the polar opposite to yours (absolutely appalled by what I saw)
