No room for complacency but this really ought to be another comfortable win if we apply ourselves correctly.

Wouldn’t be surprised if we saw a couple of changes. Just had a midweek game and we’ve got a couple of tough away games to come at Lisbon and Fulham. Would bring back Partey and save Jorginho for Europe.

2-0

We’ll need a bit of individual brilliance again like Saka the other night.

I don’t see us opening them up because they’re too deep. If anything them scoring a second is just as likely as us equalising.

21_GOONER_SALUTE
04-03-2023, 03:59 PM
Their is just something about the way we attack when we play at home that seems we'll never get off the mark unless it some own goal or unbelievable finish.

I think the easiest thing is to bring in Eddie ASAP, Vieira should come off and Smith Rowe take his place.

This game didn't need to be this hard if the guys in the pocket behind the striker (Odegaard especially) knew how to use the ball properly i.e. shoot when they are suppose to.

Oh and as long as Zinchencko is given a free role, we should always play 3 CBs, meaning White should always play.

Been caught out multiple times while everyone has poured forward. 0-2 was always likely when you’re just leaving it to chance at the back.

Vieira isn't up to it yet. Looked much better when he came off. White for Tomi was effective too.

Reiss Nelson though. So good to have him back. He's so direct with the ball.

Our Rookie got his subs right fantastically today.

I hope the White and Tomi debate is settled now, though I still believe rhis summer we should go out and spend to get full acks on both sides.
.
Vieira is clearly talented but can't make much impact on most games in the EPL because he's still too weak.

And Nelson, what a kid, what a sub.... whatever they do, they need to give him a new contract. From the moment he stepped on the pitch, he showed the directness and the belief they all seemed to be lacking....most people won't realise that he took a second touch to setup the shot, something Odegaaard and Zinchenko kept waisting our time making us think a clean strike was impossible.... I hope the kid stay fit and is the go to man when we need subs, fantastic spirit. Truly our academy has delivered some incredible kids.

Marc Overmars
04-03-2023, 05:46 PM
Smith-Rowe was disappointing, I know he’s barely played and struggled with fitness but he looks really cumbersome and scruffy with the ball. Nelson looked so much better. I hope he can stay fit because he could be an extremely useful option for us.

Vieira will be better next season hopefully, right now he looks a bit too weak and unable to impose himself. We missed Xhaka.

Here it is again. The delirium before the collapse. How many times now? To fall two goals behind to one of the worst teams to ever dirty the so-called "premier" league. Meanwhile the gypos beat an actual team. The writing is huge on the wall. I'll be laughing when the "everyone knew" moment comes. It's all so painfully predictable and yet, the fans buy it every season. For "premier" prices.

A long dead club in a long dead league for a long dead sport.

Yes, yes, dive in with your condemnations of reality. I won't pay a moment's heed - until the end of the season. Then we'll talk.

That said. F1 was actually quite entertaining today. So not all sport is totally dead.

Bit harsh on Vieira, think he suffered from not having an out-and-out striker to try to provide for

And he only came off in the 84th minute ffs :) for his 14 minutes Xhaka was ok, but he's probably better as a sub when the opposition has slowed down to his pace

But yes Nelson was excellent, really like his directness (are you watching Zinchenko) and really pleased he turned the match

Well, firstly let's deal with that bullshit. Bournemouth have already got the same points or more than 6 of these teams finished on.
https://www.fourfourtwo.com/features/worst-premier-league-teams-ever-points-total
Given the games left it seems vanishingly unlikely that they won't get more than the rest.
And while I agree going 2-0 down against them is a "bad thing", given that we were at home and it was very much a "must win", isn't it the end result you care about? See you in May, right? But when it suits you, you're dwelling on the mid-point of a game.

Meanwhile the gypos beat an actual team.
An actual team who are in bloody awful form. Since the World Cup they've W2 D5 L2 in the league.
We are 22 points above this "actual team" (having played 2 games more, admittedly).
Were The Invincibles an actual team? Right now we have 1 point less than they had at this point.

The writing is huge on the wall. I'll be laughing when the "everyone knew" moment comes. It's all so painfully predictable and yet, the fans buy it every season.
Which fans? I don't know a single Arsenal fan who is confident we will win the league. I literally said in this thread that I still feel it's unlikely. At times I've started to believe it possible. Today felt like "a moment" and if we do finish on top come May this will be a massive result. But most fans are still being realistic.
Literally no-one expected a title challenge this year. We didn't even finish in the top 4 last year and kept tripping over our own feet when trying to.
So spare us the "told you so" come May, you're not saying anything we don't know. We're just enjoying watching a team who are fighting for each other, a team we can finally get behind.

A long dead club in a long dead league for a long dead sport.
Well stop watching then. Oh, you have. Fine, but why post on here about it? I mean, you have the right to but what's the actual point?
Why don't you put us all out of your misery?
If you can't enjoy a 97th minute winner in a must win game in a season when we are improbably in a title race then just stop bothering us.

I doubt very much we’ll win the league - we have a ridiculous run in.

I brought my laptop down to my mate’s house today so he could watch the match. Because of health reasons, he is almost housebound. Watching this made his day, especially with the last second winner.

If you can’t find any joy in this, then I don’t know what to say.
