I think relying on Liverpool who have a shocking away record was always going to be tenuous. However Liverpool have fire power to get something…but they will have to come out and they’ve already been exposed on the wings this afternoon

Der Klassiker just started, Dortmund despite dropping points at Schalke have been the form team in the Bundesliga since the post World Cup resumption. But in reality Bellingham aside, it’s a bang average team….and Bayern are at home so should be able to pull them apart like string cheese. Dortmund also not beaten Bayern in the Bundesliga since 2018

They’re bloody awful but there’s surely enough quality there for a better coach than Potter to do something with. I don’t think they’ll be out in the wilderness for too long and expect them to be back in the mix next season.

But for now…:haha:

HCZ_Reborn
02-04-2023, 11:04 AM
Yeah whilst I think the owner definitely hasn’t helped with going berserk on signings, Potter has amassed 28 points from a possible 66 since he replaced Tuchel.

21 goals scored in 22 games in that time.

Holy shit your away record is awful. But yeah. Only one loss all season at home.
Come on, guys, be nice. We can't have City win the league and you're unlikely to finish top 4 anyway.

Augurs well at least to create chances, which I don't remember us previously really doing very much at Anfield.

It’s an absolute joke of a club. And a sick joke as well, if so many of their fans weren’t such unbelievable cunts I’d almost feel for them because this can’t be fun to watch.

As for Liverpool, any advantage we might have because of them playing shit feels like it’s going to be cancelled out by playing Rob Holding.

Why on earth does he still play for us? It’s embarrassing. He is a hard working defender for sure, but his complete lack of comfort on the ball and lack of pace leaves us completely exposed especially in partnership with Gabriel who isn’t the best defender technically.

yes with such a shit defence it's no wonder our GD over the last two games is +6 with an aggregate score of 8-2

You’re really not well are you? Have you been spending time on Twitter? That can radicalise a man you know.

What the fuck does scoring 8 goals have to do with defending. If you honestly think it’s unreasonable to worry about us playing a player who at my most generous I could call a mid table level player when you’ve seen with your own eyes how badly he gets destroyed for pace (it’s not his fault, he’s just limited…it’s ok to bring him on with ten minutes to go when defending a lead but in a game where we are going to be stretched if we have any ambition to win it’s completely precarious).
It’s almost like there’s a reason why palace and Leeds are fighting relegation and Liverpool for all their bed shitting away from home are still a force to be reckoned with at Anfield.

I’m sorry you’re butt hurt for some reason because I haven’t given out warm fuzzies to players for comfortably beating relegation bait sides. But Rob Holding single handedly lost us the game against Spurs…not because he’s an arsehole but because he was out of his depth against Son.

Mac76

He had a bad game against Spuds, but that was last season so how about we look at this season where's he's played well, particularly against Palace, in the last two games

I suppose you don't like Ben White because he was a bit shaky v Brentford over a season and a half ago

The point is we play something of a high-risk game, especially at home, where we commit a lot of players forward, have no real left back and at times essentially rely on scoring more goals than we concede.

The Leeds goal was down to our front players taking their foot off the pedal, allowing Leeds to come forward, and Zinchenko screwing up, not Holding or Gabriel

Generally speaking we're playing great football and it's really enjoyable to watch, I just feel sorry for anyone who nitpicks their way into thinking they're watching some kind of rubbish team which somehow has pubbed its way to the top of the league

That's very obviously not the case and as GP says it makes one wonder whether some people are actually watching what's happening here

Anyone, whatever, you carry on wallowing in your own glass-half-empty world and the rest of us will enjoy what has turned out to be a great season, whether we win the league or not

To be fair the prospect of Holding at Anfield does leave me concerned, not having Saliba available is a monumental blow.

Saying that, I believe we play better away from home anyway. This game will be won and lost on how effective our front line is.

Trossard should start. Can’t have a guy who scored a hattrick at Anfield 6 months ago not playing.

Mac76
05-04-2023, 04:06 PM
I wouldn't argue with that, Holding is clearly a step down from Saliba, but as you say it will be more a case of how we do up front

and totally agree re Trossard, I suppose the question is who would you leave out? maybe Jesus, given we're still easing him back in to an extent?

Not sure but it’s a nice problem to have. Just feel like right now Trossard makes our best 11.

Jesus is good enough to make an impact from the bench if needs be.

As I’ve said it wasn’t because Holding had a bad night against Spurs, it was because he was found out.

If I’m spoiling your enjoyment of the season feel free not to read my posts but in my book when you’re climbing a mountain you don’t get half way and stand around admiring the view like a tit, you carry on until you reach the summit. I didn’t think a title challenge was realistic…but now that we are in a title fight (albeit one that I still don’t think we are favourites for) I don’t want us to fall flat on our arses by keeping someone in the team who clearly is not good enough to be playing for us.

Plus it’s not me being negative. Getting bent out of shape because I don’t think performances merit more than six out of ten. When ignoring the fact that these players are not hitting top gear but still coming out comfortable winners
