Partey and Jesus out for a few weeks.

Shouldn’t really have much trouble here as long as we apply ourselves correctly. Though I’m sure there will be some careless shit happen like it usually does at home.

3-1.

That will be much less likely if Ram and Tomi play instead of Raya and Zin

0-3 McBurnie hatter

oh and saying Partey's injured is like saying the Pope's Catholic, it really isn't necessary ...

I think this will be a tricky game, not necessarily that we won’t win. But I can see this being a struggle because they will play 11 behind the ball from the off.

I would rather have Havertz play up front because he can hold up the ball well allowing space for others and Edward is just not making the runs at the moment.

I would probably drop both Saka and Odegaard for this game. One because he’s clearly not fully fit, the other because he’s been poor.

My 11

Ramsdale, Tomi, Gabriel, Saliba, White, Rice, Jorginho, Vieira, Martinelli, Havertz and Trossard

Interesting line up, not what I’d have gone for, but not what I’d have expected Arteta to go with either

Kiwior and Smith Rowe both probably deserve some game time

And Saka deserves a rest but we all know he isn’t going to get it

He clearly doesn't like Gabriel (whatever you say) and is still trying to prove we don't need him

And starting with Raya, Zin, Eddie and Havertz is an open invitation for Sheff U to win the gam3

Well your joke McBurnie prediction died in the crib, he doesn’t even make the bench

I would check to see if he’s injured but I don’t care all that much. Whoever we played and whoever they played…I can see a dull grind of trying to break them down. And because my predictions are so spot on, we will probably get a goal fest

I almost feel like playing Raya is a form of punishment for him, looks like he has PTSD

Zinchenko? Well I suppose one explanation is that he’s a better player to have when you’ve got a team that will play for a draw and stick 11 men behind the ball. Where as Tomiyasu more effective when actual defending needs doing and more space to work in.

I think I’d definitely rather have the latter against Newcastle as Zinchenko was awful when we played at St James’ last season

Yes and he also drops his Captain in the same game. If he was trying to prove he doesn’t need Gabriel why would he have started the last six games and only benched today against a team where he thinks he can rest players (like Jorginho, like Odegaard and possibly yes Tomiyasu)

Most of these disagreements start because of your insistence on using words like clearly when even you know it’s not the most plausible of explanations. But you wouldn’t be the only person to discount things that don’t fit your theories

I think I’m correct in saying that’s the first hat-trick scored by any player for us since February 2021 (Auba vs Leeds)

Saka is subbed

Next the blind will see and the lane will walk :haha:

Arsenal should be going for more goals but I they are waiting for SU to get one.

Why do we keep letting all and sundry take penalties. I don’t know why but it annoys me. Edward had three, let him get a fourth. Shouldn’t be a charity event for people who can’t score from open play

Sheffield Utd are clearly hopeless
But you can, as they say, only beat what’s put in front of you so nice to see us doing that confidently today. A nice goal difference boost.

When looking at their results

Losing 1-0 to Palace, 2-1 to Forest, 2-1 to City, 2-1 to Spurs, 2-0 to West Ham, 3-1 to Fulham, 2-1 to United

Despite all these losses they’ve only been hammered by us and the Geordies

They are terrible, but in a way I feel bad for them because the club is in a huge mess. They lost their two best players after promotion and they’d already resigned themselves to relegation before a ball was kicked (the money they got from promotion was all about clearing the clubs debts)

I thought today might be a bit of a struggle given we haven’t always fared well against teams that play with 11 behind the ball. And they haven’t capitulated apart from to Newcastle. And first twenty odd minutes it did look that it would go that way, really not creating anything but we created a chance took it and never looked back. Everyone knows Edward is not good enough for us, but if that boosts his confidence enough that he can pop up with more useful goals than it will be a good thing (especially if we decide to sell him and get a good asking price for him)

Two clean sheets back to back in the league at the Emirates as well. First time in almost two years

The goals from Edward are very good.

First goal lovely control, turn and finish. Second good poacher’s instincts after flap from Fotheringham and third is a lovely on a hat trick blast from outside the box (definitely should be goal of the month contender)

Sure. I’m not downplaying our result.
They’re a team we should be beating, to hammer them was nice and puts our GD in a good place.

Very pleasant game to be at yesterday, certainly after we scored the first

Wasn't sure about our lineup beforehand but actually given the opposition it worked well, even the Zin thing made sense given he didn't really have to defend

If Arteta can now start alternating some players more, especially Zin and Tomi, we could really be on to something - still need a striker though, as said above, nice to see him get a hatter, but Eddie's still not good enough

I didn't mind Vieira taking the pel - he 'won' it and it's good to get different players on the scoresheet - though it wasn't a great strike and he was lucky the keeper guessed wrong

I expect Raya enjoyed having a quiet game where he couldn't mess up too much, I think we'll see Ram at W Ham in the week though and hope he does well

One thing I’ll give him is that I think Arteta has rotated a lot more already than he has in the previous 2 seasons. Doesn’t feel like players are coming in from the cold as much, everyone seems to be involved where possible.

Thought Raya should why he's in the team, tbh. A couple of times he came out and claimed a cross and instantly hit excellent passes out to start a counter. One in particular should've been a goal when Martinelli laid it off...but the chance went to Sakashite which is where they go to die.

Nice to watch a game like that.

Weird that it was 5-0 but no one really stood out. Great hatrick from Eddie, each goal showcasing a different skill, but I didn't think any of the performances where otherwise eye-catching.

Actually mental the we won so convincingly when Havertz and Sakashite were so utterly anonymous again.

Trossard and Viera must be sitting in the sidelines watching those two wondering if it's real life.

I'm hoping you're right that he's learning, think it's been partly through injuries etc but certainly his decision to play Tomi in Seville was encouraging, I'm hoping he'll do the same at St James' Park next weekend

Nice to see Elneny get a runout btw, he got a huge cheer when he came on :)
