Depends on the context tbh. If it was a 14/15 year old girl that he met at a nightclub once that snuck in using a fake ID then some leniency could be shown and his career doesn't have to completely end.

But if it was repeated and there's proof that he knew (especially if it's someone younger than 14/15 at most), then yeah it's goodbye to his career and hello prison cell. And with his looks and fame, he'll look like a painter's radio by the end of his month there.

Still, I don't know why people like him can't stick to girls their age.

Well he is used to missing targets tbh.

And the BBC report that's it's a 15 year old girl so it's no sick Ian Watkins/Gary Glitter type shit that's he involved in.

Depending on the details I may end up even feeling sorry for him after this. Judging by the fact that's absolutely no hint of "rape" involved I reckon he's probably mistakenly decided to get with some bint at some night club who's thrown himself at his feet whilst he was kinda of drunk. And sensing that she can get a massive payout be selling her story to a rag in a couple of months for a hefty payout, she's decided to suddenly cry foul about it days later.

And even if he manages to resume his career after this, he's going to get bucket loads of abuse from opposing fans over it which is going to hit his confidence pretty hard. Probably would be the end of his PL career regardless of what happens tbh.

GingerTwat on Ozil:

'Over the years, the big players who were really ambitious - Patrick Vieria, Thierry Henry, Cesc Fabregas, Robin van Persie have all left.

'They left for the simple reason that Arsenal are no in it to win league titles any more. Those players have realised that if they want to win championships then they have to move elsewhere. It's why I think Mesut Ozil took the easy option joining Arsenal.

'Since he has been there you cannot doubt his quality but at times he looks like he is going through the motions, however much ground he covers. He needs a leader around him to get him going. At Real Madrid he had a chance of winning league titles. At Arsenal that is not on the cards.'

Meanwhile:

Paul Scholes confirmed he will not be taking over as Oldham manager. The League One side wanted to make him Lee Johnson's replacement but Scholes did not feel the timing was right.

He'd rather be a pundit. How's that for an easy option?

Except our "hammering" was struggling to finish in the top four.

Their "hammering" was flirting with relegation and finishing (most likely) distinctly mid table in a less competitive and intense league.

Really, Klopp isn't a better manager than Wenger.

Didn't say he was, what I'm pointing out is there's more to management and performance than "what have you done for me lately" - unless you are a chav or a gypo in which case that's all that counts with their fans mistaking it for a winning mentality. It must have been pretty depressing in that Dortmund dressing room a couple of seasons back when the high of competing at the top turned to a realisation Dortmund, like every other club in Germany, is a feeder for Bayern. Everyone's level probably dropped, including the managers. This isn't an excuse, they all get paid well, it's just some depth to a developing and shallow argument that somehow Klopp is a bad manager overnight. There will be countless other factors on top.

Pellegrini isn't a bad manager either. He's just learning a painful lesson about managing mercenaries.

Wenger isn't a bad manager. But he's not a winner either. Not as a fan would define the term winning, at least. Wenger will always keep the club up there near the top. He's the safest pair of hands in world management. In a bank manager, insurance broker sort of way though. We don't want a casino player but we need somebody with more adventure if we ever want to hit the summit again. That could be Klopp, certainly it could. But it's probably not Klopp if we want to win back to back titles or stay at the very top for the better part of a decade. I'm not sure there's any manager out there who can achieve that now, what with all the negative developments in football.

If we can hang on to our squad and add a couple of quality additions then even Wenger might stumble into a title. It's a difficult situation to call. The club owners don't place football as the top priority. That's a significant contribution to Wenger's attitude I would think.

Our hammering was 6-0 against the chavs and 8-2 against the scumbags, to highlight just two. Those are entirely unacceptable results for any manager that is supposed to be top level.

£40m sounds about right. Prices are going up every year. Sanchez and Ozil were clear bargains. It sounds ridiculous but it's true. After 5 years the chances are Man City could recoup all of their money if they wanted. I can't think of a younger player that's better. Apart from Hector Bellerin.

How often do transfer fees actually reflect a logical value though?

He's young, English and going from one PL club to another. It may be cliché but that bumps the price up no end. Add in the extra TV money (coming next season, is it?) sloshing about and it gets even sillier. Not to mention the sell on for QPR, which means we're going to want more than we might otherwise. These ridiculous figures used to mean you were getting the very best players in the world, but it doesn't even necessarily mean that anymore; hence £28m on Bony, £30m on Shaw, £32m (£42m?) for Mangala, £26m for Milner, £25m for Lallana and £35m for some lanky Geordie bloke.

He's also on the last year of his contract and has publicly revealed that he won't sign another one regardless of what's offered.

Add to that his relationship with the club, the manager and the fans seems to have deteriorated to the point where his presence at the club seems untenable next season.

Considering that and also considering that there isn't a bidding war going on at the moment with only really City expressing any sort of interest in him, 40 million seems way over the top.

But then again City are dumb as fuck. This is the same club that gave us 16 million for Kolo and 25 for Adebayor.

Niall_Quinn
17-06-2015, 05:42 PM
It's £40mill because the chavs and the gypos are allowed to exist. None of those other fees you mention would ever had happened if we didn't have these mega-dopers in the league.

Worst part is, with all these players at their disposal neither fucker can produce a watchable product. Maybe sometimes the gypos put in a decent performance, maybe 1 in 3. But our champions? What a fucking joke. A billion quid to bore everyone to death? They are a cancer on sport, an organisation dedicated to money rather than football.

Unfortunately they are dragging everyone into the same boat because the FA will do FA about it, and you're hardly likely to get any complaints from the leech agents or massively overrated players like Sterling. These players don't even need to learn the basic techniques any more yet we're only about 5 years away from one of the fuckers pulling in a million a week.

£40mill for Sterling is ludicrous, in football terms he's not worth a fraction of that. But in big money business terms nonsense becomes sense because it's always a tiny monitory thieving off the majority. Murdoch, Abramovich, those despicable Arabs, that's why the likes of Sterling goes for £40mill, has absolutely nothing to do with Sterling himself. Plenty of players out there with potential, hardly any of them ever realise it. That's because there's no need to, they get paid anyway.

Alexis Sanchez has shown the whole league what a real footballer is. More of him and less Sterlings and we'll be on a brighter path. Really can't name many genuinely decent players in the PL. Players who make you want to watch the game.

The start of the new season brings a tweak to football's offside rule - one that could result in quite a few goals being disallowed. If a player has a shot at goal and a team-mate in an offside position makes a play for the ball - even if they don't touch it - the goal will now be disallowed.

Supporters of Jimmy Greaves have reached the £30,000 target to fund physiotherapy for the former England striker who suffered a severe stroke in May. Greaves, 75, left hospital in June.

Sad isn't it, that regular people have to chip in when a modern day PL player could find this amount down the back of his sofa.

Tottenham, one of his former clubs, have paid for part of Greaves' treatment, and the Football Association has also made a contribution, understood to be a four-figure sum.

Four figure sum? That's the same as they'd spend on lunch.

I don't like the spuds or their players, but Greaves has done a hell of a lot for the game and he was a bloody good player to boot, playing at a time where you had to love the game because the money was naff.

To put it in perspective, that fat, useless cunt Rooney who isn't fit to lace Greaves' boots will earn the £30k in the next 16 hours.

French football star Karim Benzema has been arrested over a sex tape blackmail plot against fellow France international Mathieu Valbuena.

The 27-year-old Real Madrid striker, who was linked with a move to Arsenal over the summer, was being held by judicial police in Versailles, west of Paris.

The Versailles prosecutor has placed Benzema under formal criminal investigation, with a source close to the case saying: 'We can confirm that he is being questioned over his role in this affair.'

Millions are looking upon the swastika full of hope,

I don't get angry about the anthem - that's just a tune with meaningless words far removed from reality attached, like all national anthems. I get angry about the army of assholes who will go along with this. Same cunts who vote. Same cunts who make this country a shithole.

And the white thing is so pertinent it leaps up and slaps you in the face. 120 dead? Normal day in Libya, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan or any of the places our war criminal liberators have planted their filthy jackboots.

But isn't that the exact point? On those places it IS a normal day. That doesn't mean it's ok, but it just becomes background noise. The reaction isn't to do with the skin colour of those affected - that is probably quite a mix. The reaction and shock is because it happened in a normally peaceful city and all a bit too close to home.

Don't people expect shit to happen when they start wars? Or are they really that naive? London was bombed in WWII - did Londoner's think wow, that was unexpected?

Why isn't the Russian anthem being played at the weekend?

The first time it happened they probably did think that, yes. After a while it would have become the norm, more during WW2 than 1.

I agree that playing the anthem this weekend is overboard though.

Well the more mercenaries Europe sends to the Middle East to rip the place up the more normal these days are going to become. That much must be obvious to anyone who doesn't write for the Daily Mail. As for the assholes at the PL, they are always first in line to grovel at the altar of political correctness or cloying moral trendsetting. 50,000 slave kids making footballs on the one hand, let's all stand against racism on the other. Cunts basically.

The incidents in France were sickening. The follow-up flooded the place in vomit. But not enough vomit obviously, the PL wants more.

Anyway, that aside, if this means we've all found a sudden love for the French and all things France then I suppose that's not a bad thing. All people together regardles off race, colour, creed. Like fuck. Temporary love so bollocks to it. People being seen to appear to do the right thing because they can't be bothered to actually do the right thing in their daily lives. Fuck them.

Respects were paid the other night in an appropriate setting at Wembley. I think it's a bit much to now have the anthem played this weekend, I can't really imagine France or another country playing God Save the Queen before their league matches if a tragedy occurred here.

Not really bothered though in fairness, just find it a bit odd.

Most national anthems relate the a nation and its people. Ours is a grovelling and fawning crawl to a hereditary turd apparently appointed by God. It's not surprising that another nation would be unable to play our "national" anthem. The only surprise is we're dumb enough and cowardly enough to play it ourselves.

God save our gracious Queen
Long live our noble Queen
God save the Queen
Send her victorious
Happy and glorious
Long to reign over us
God save the Queen

O Lord our God arise
Scatter her enemies
And make them fall
Confound their politics
Frustrate their knavish tricks
On Thee our hopes we fix
God save us all

Thy choicest gifts in store
On her be pleased to pour
Long may she reign
May she defend our laws
And ever give us cause
To sing with heart and voice
God save the Queen

Not in this land alone
But be God's mercies known
From shore to shore
Lord make the nations see
That men should brothers be
And form one family
The wide world over

From every latent foe
From the assassins blow
God save the Queen
O'er her thine arm extend
For Britain's sake defend
Our mother, prince, and friend
God save the Queen

Lord grant that Marshal Wade
May by thy mighty aid
Victory bring
May he sedition hush
And like a torrent rush
Rebellious Scots to crush
God save the King

God save the queen
She ain't no human being
There is no future
In England's dreaming

Don't be told what you want
Don't be told what you need
There's no future, no future,
No future for you

God save the queen
We mean it man
We love our queen
God saves

God save the queen
'Cause tourists are money
And our figurehead
Is not what she seems

Oh God save history
God save your mad parade
Oh Lord God have mercy
All crimes are paid

When there's no future
How can there be sin
We're the flowers in the dustbin
We're the poison in your human machine
We're the future, your future

God save the queen
We mean it man
We love our queen
God saves

God save the queen

And there is no future

Premier League managers have welcomed the decision to play the French national anthem before every game this weekend in remembrance of the victims of the Paris terror attacks.

Arsenal’s French boss Arsene Wenger, whose side play at West Brom on Saturday, said: ‘I think it’s a nice gesture of solidarity. It’s not an obvious one for the fans, just like it would not be an obvious one for fans in France to sing God Save The Queen, because they don’t know the words. Symbolically it’s a very nice gesture.’

This has to be one of the weirdest moments in football. Shame Wenger seems to be cheerleading the farce.

Well, we haven't. But then we didn't really hate them in the first place.
It's a bit like Arsenal and Spurs fans. Yes, there's a rivalry but basically we're not that different, we just wear different colours (unlike Chelsea fans who do have a different and much nastier streak).
I'm generalising, obviously, but generalizations are generally true, that's how they become generalizations.
When Rocky died it was before a NLD, the Spurs fans observed it perfectly to their eternal credit - some things are bigger than petty football or national rivalries and this is one of them.

Is this more important or awful than other things going on in the world? Well no, obviously not. But this one is so unexpected and so close to home. If it can happen in Paris it can happen in London so of course people will be more affected. It's just how people think. Whaddaya do?

Wenger is the only man who can do that job. Absolutely perfect for him and perfect for football. This needs to happen. He wins the league for us in his final year, moves on to head up the whole game, we bring in Simeone or Pep. Somebody somewhere with brains, the will and the wherewithal needs to get on this.

Wenger would fail in that role for the reason that he is precisely what the sport needs. And what the sport needs is completely at odds with what FIFA stands for.

In principle he’s the perfect man, someone who could be a great politician. But as always within any organisation, one man is never enough. There are too many layers to power, a lot of leveraging, deal-brokering and appeasement that ultimately leads to a watered down end result that pleases very few people.

There has to be optimism even in the face of the most extreme cynicism or nothing can change and nothing can ever be good. I reckon Wenger could command enough respect from within the game to give him the allies he needs to counter the leeches from outside. Maybe. The fans from all sides would have to be behind him 100%, no petty rivalries, this would be a rescue package for the game. Even the powerful do what they are told if the numbers game is brought to bear. The only reason we have to put up with government, for example, is because the majority of good people do fuck all. We might never be able to eradicate government because that's so broad and entrenched, but football is different. The pigs will do as they are told if their income is at risk. They'll bend to the will of the consumer, all corporate entities do in the end if only the will can be found within the majority. I know it won't happen, I just said it needs to happen.

Bring Dein along as muscle. He could do the dirty stuff and he'd be good at it. These oligarchs and Arabs and petty little crooks from the Caribbean and dirty scum from Brazil and suited and booted filth from Switzerland, you know - the great and the good - they are never really in control, it only appears that way because the majority remain silent. Look at Blatter, he was untouchable until he was touched. And he's proof that one man indeed is enough to sway an entire movement, in the wrong direction in his case of course.

I'm honestly not saying this so Arsenal can get rid of Wenger. Not at all. I genuinely believe he's the one man who could make the difference.

Wenger has his principles but I’m not sure he’ll stand up for them. Look at the way things have been handled here at Arsenal. Ticket prices raised through the roof and he’s allowed himself to be used as a shield to protect board members. When price hikes were announced he said it was necessary to compete with Chelsea and co. He’s stood back whilst already rich men have dipped into the pockets of the fans and he’s justified it. If funds were being held back from him during the stadium transition, why wasn’t he able to put pressure on them and use his influence to keep key player and invest in more players? Too much points to him looking out and protecting the interest of the Board and throwing two fingers up at his players and fans in the process. I don’t think he’s right for FIFA or UEFA at all. Not that he’d want the role anyway.

UEFA and FIFA are the absolute pits. The lowest of the low, corrupt to the core, seemingly beyond redemption. I'm not suggesting it's possible to turn them 180 and make them the epitome of virtue. Everything that goes on in both shit holes will still involve criminals and con-artists, gangsters and fraudsters. That's football these days, that's business. But if you put a crook in charge too, that's when you get the horrible excess. I don't think anyone can claim Wenger is a crook.

Can't be helped if there's 3 or 4 players that are head and shoulders above everybody else.

Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar (maybe Suarez) are leagues ahead of all the rest tbh and 3 of them play for Barca whom we're facing next in the CL.

Tis a joke. Billionaire team full of billionaire playa and the billionairest playa of them all wins the award. What a surprise. He is the best as things stand. But then again, he's never tested himself. Neither has Ronaldo. Suarez has, however. He was a one man Liverpool, albeit a couple of season back now. The circumstances are never factored into these awards.

Also, Henry should have won it every year he was playing. EASILY the best player of the lot. Anyone who disputes it is a cunt, or Spanish (which is worse).

Yes, fair(ish) point.

But what is football these days? Come and show us how good you are, despite the Neanderthals. Pele did it. They used to kick the poor cunt 15 yards into the air. But he still prevailed. And now they are comparing Messi to Pele. False comparison. So far.

I think Messi will stay in shelter for the rest of his career. And that will be a shame.

Nothing is on the level of brutality back then of course but it's not as though Messi doesn't get hacked down when he is stopped. I go on the quality of what he produces in creating, scoring, teamplay - nearly everything for an attacker he excels in.

Also, I think it's a bit churlish for the level of the Premier League to be criticised week in week out and then use it as some kind of proving ground for any player that hasn't been in it previously.

Don't really mean the PL. I mean get outside the comfort zone of Barca.

On the other hand, if he stays there for his whole career then that's something too. In a way. Because he already has as much cash as he can handle.

Football really isn't the way it used to be. You can't really compare anything any more. It's a mess.

The athletics bods are talking about scrapping all world records because SOME athletes were druggies. Unfair. In a way Messi has been drugged up because he's always played in a team that delivered precisely what he needed to be great. Often on a plate. But then again, unfair. We'll never know until he steps out of his comfort zone. IF. Or we can just go with it and elevate him up there. Nothing to compare.

McNamara That Ghost...
11-01-2016, 11:06 PM
Where though? Everywhere he can likely go is going to be comfort zone material - ie the best set-up in that league and let's face it, unless he runs down his contract it is going to take an amount of money that I am not sure any club can realistically table.

I'll put him up there because it's based on the quality of what I see. He is a massive part of the reason why Barca have been so great; of course it is helped with him having great players around him but by the same token, using your example of Pele, think of the talent he had around him in 1970 also.
