Most clean sheets
As you all rudely ignored me I found out for myself, but thanks.
Bit of a strange one though, the ‘keeper doesn’t have a huge influence on whether you keep a clean sheet. If the midfield and defence are doing their job the ‘keeper might not have much to do. If they’re not then it’s pretty unlikely they’ll keep a clean sheet.

We are doing what we can. OT is obviously a banana skin, we are loads better than them but have a poor record there and they’ll raise it against us. People can point to the Villa game, but it’s the only slip this calendar year. The bigger slips came in the first half of the season. But we could still get 89 points, we will surely get no fewer than 86. Overall I can’t really fault their efforts

Yeah I’m at peace with it tbh. I think we all knew after the Villa game it had most likely gone.
If we win at Old Trafford then that would be an awesome effort to take it to the final day but right now it all feels like pie in the sky.

Doubt that would have made a difference. They haven’t lost since early December. This is what usually happens with them in the run in, it’s just a machine that can’t be stopped. They’ve never slipped up at this stage.

Which tells you more about City than us.
We’ve slipped once all calendar year. Literally won every other game, the only exception being City away where a point was a commendable result.
One slip and the City machine mows is down.
I said all along that if they’re going to win it then at least make the fuckers win it. We’re doing that despite our harder run in, so no complaints from me.

Well it is funny but I don’t have the same visceral hatred of United that I do Chelsea. I merely dislike United, I find them utterly pathetic.
They are similar in that both clubs have been horrendously run in the last ten years….well United more so.
But Chelsea. Those Russian money backed stooges, cheapened the Champions League and knocked us off of being the top club in London. Their fans are racist scumbags and they have no class whatsoever.
Their place is in the lower tier of English football, hopefully with Man City joining them
Utterly artificial success

They hate Moyes which I think is a little unfair given he’s been a stabilising presence at the club and he won them that European trophy
People think some of our fanbase is entitled, should have heard some of the things being said by Ammers fans…utterly delusional.
Guys screaming behind me because Coufal and Zouma weren’t taking Luis Diaz to the line. They were trying bloody hard to, but Diaz is exceptionally good technically and an utter speed merchant.
But because Everton had beaten them three days ago, in the mind of West Ham fans they should have done likewise. Not understanding that Everton were able to exploit the small size of their pitch to deny Liverpool space in which to operate. Can’t do that at the London Stadium

Of course I get it but relying on Spuds is just stupid.
They will never do Arsenal a favour.

Their last home game of the season, I expect them to be annoying game raisers. Ten Hag always gets random results to temporarily save him.

We should win because we’re on another level to them but football can also just be a little weird and no team has fluked more undeserved results than United.

So a bunch of largely foreign players will sacrifice the chance to play in the CL for the sake of a London rivalry (or what is in fact pure envy)?
No way

I think every team is sufficiently motivated to beat City. Wolves I think gave it a go but got mullered

Mate of mine keeps predicting 2-2.
God alone knows what makes him think that. Spurs have the flip-flops on, City are flying.
Given City's record there I might usually be optimistic of Spurs getting something, but in the context of a title run in with City doing what they do an Spurs on the beach, I'm not expecting any help.
Marc Overmars

If City were at Spurs earlier in the season then I’d believe there’s a chance of dropped points. At this late stage though, they’ll win because they have to. They’ve never surrendered a lead once they get their noses in front.
Let’s just hope we win at United then whatever happens, happens.

They haven’t been beaten after taking the lead but they’ve drawn against Chelsea, Spurs, Liverpool and Palace after leading

I've said it before but I'm not looking at Spuds, I'm looking slightly at the chance of an upset at Fulham but it's very very very unlikely

I meant a lead as in the title race. As soon as they get to the top of the table I don’t recall them ever dropping silly points in the run in once it’s theirs to lose. They matched Liverpool blow for blow in those mental seasons and wouldn’t go away last year when chasing us either.
If they dropped points now it would be a huge shock and quite out of character.

Fulham are on the beach, West Ham are in the mud and Spurs are Spurs.
We need a miracle lads.
I just want us to be there on the final day for the fun of it all. It would also be quite funny watching Spurs fans willing their team on to lose should we get the win at Old Trafford.
Mac76
08-05-2024, 05:35 PM
The trouble with going to the final day is that one thing we're all agreed on here is that Citeh will trash West Ham, so it will be a completely false event where Sky etc will be bigging it up as The Big Climax To The Season and then everyone can laugh at us when surprise surprise we don't win
I'd almost rather it was done at Spuds so we can go to the Everton game knowing we've done what we've done and just have a good day
City will win all of their games. Thats the be all.
We have won 14, lost 1 and drawn 1 (against City) since the start of the year, when we were behind them.
We’ve been fucking brilliant.
But you need to be perfect unfortunately. So I can’t see it happening.
The Fulham players were flying kites at training this week. That’s all you need to know about how involved they are
Spurs are awful and West Ham have a manager called David Moyes
McNamara That Ghost...

I'm more of the thoughts that Fulham are flying kites because they're so confident.
Spuds getting something would be the Spursiest thing ever.
West Ham giving a decent farewell to Moyes.

I actually don't think that's true. You don't get to the top of a sport (add joke here about being at Spurs isn't exactly the top, but you know what I mean :p ) without being extremely competitive. I don't think they'll just let City win. They'll lose because they're shit, City aren't and despite their bad record at Spurs, in the context of a title run in I can't see them slipping up.
City are a juggernaut, we're the only team who have even pushed them this year. Liverpool looked like they would but then fell away. If it's not enough and that one slip against Villa is what costs us (and earlier slips) then so be it.

No they won't - you really don't have a clue do you?
Professional footballers, who regularly change clubs, give lip service to these rivalries without caring one jot (unless they're that very rare-case of born-and-bred fan of the club they're playing for)
They only care about playing at the highest level they can, so if there is any chance of a CL place for Spuds still, you can bet anything they will try their very best to win that game because a) they want to play in the CL and b) they don't give a stuff if Arsenal win the title
So stop embarrassing yourself

Well I can’t be blamed for causing tension for once
Anyway I think there seems to be a disconnect between what spurs fans want and what spurs players will do
Spurs fans think there’s no chance of them finishing 4th anyway so they want City to beat them
Crocodile Greeky and the players will want to win no question. Though the players are taught about the local rivalry…they aren’t going to give a fuck if they hand us the title. Not how they think about things

Well Actshually :geek:
That wasn’t about qualification for the CL, that was just about finishing above that mob. They stayed in the title race longer than us even though they blew a 2 goal lead at the Bridge.
But we finished 2nd ahead of them because they lost to Southampton and then Newcastle

Nope, you're deluded if you think any professional sportsperson wouldn't do anything they can to compete at the highest level possible, least of all for the sake of (in Spuds' case) a pathetic local 'rivalry' in which they are a long-distant second-best and about which the players don't give a toss
