Flying a kite is one of the most pointless and frustrating things ever. Most of the time the bloody thing never gets off the ground or if the wind is too strong it breaks.

And then once it’s in the air. Oh wow….its moving about in the air

It’s some bullshit

Come on Fulham, you took 4 points off us FFS.

I don’t think took is a fair expression

Especially when we gift wrapped the points and put a pretty bow on

In fairness, the away game didn’t bother me so much I think they deserved to win (mainly because we were shit and looked tired, clueless and out of ideas)

It was the home game where 9 times out of ten we would have won but for a weird starting lineup/formation and failure to see out the game with a goal and a man advantage.

That along with both games against Villa (we should have won at Villa Park, and I think probably should have drawn at home…we were better side first half, they the second half) are the three games that have troubled me the most this season

HCZ_Reborn
11-05-2024, 10:47 AM
In fact I would go as far as to say the only game we’ve lost in the league this season where the better side won was Fulham away.

Newcastle and Villa screwed over by VAR

West Ham and Villa at home just utterly wasteful

The West Ham at home then Fulham away double header is where it all went wrong. It’s where we lost the initiative. Villa at home was disappointing but I can forgive them one slip in the run in.
Overall I don’t think we could ask much from them. It’s clearly not going to be enough. I hope we win tomorrow to take it to the last day at least.

West Ham and Fulham we were out of form. Couldn’t score plus with West Ham just ridiculously unlucky…first goal should have been chalked off and it changed the entire game

If we win tomorrow I think either way we’ve done well…fixtures in April were ridiculously hard. And the collapse I predicted was only really a mini collapse (and only that if you put the champions league and league fixtures together)

Defensively we’ve been pretty much spot on, we buy a striker and those games where we looked empty up front are games that should be wins. I don’t think there’s any question in terms of the league our team is second only to a bunch of miserable fucking cheats

But I don’t think the FA actually have the balls to deal with them.

A lot of the direct financial charges pertain to the period between 2009 and 2018

They probably have been compliant financially since 2018 but they clearly put themselves in a position to be able to do so through dishonesty.

2018-2023 they have mainly been guilty of failure to cooperate with the investigation.

The likelihood is that this time next year we will still be asking all the same questions

I think it will be fairly routine for City anyway. Early goal followed by complete control and then maybe another goal or two later on. The only thing that could make it interesting is if Liverpool win tonight. With the final day fixtures in their favour, Spurs could be in striking distance of Villa if they somehow beat City.

It will be quite cringe worthy though watching Spurs fans celebrate with City when the inevitable happens.

The sight of Spurs fans celebrating their team losing would surely have to be one of the most pathetic sights in the history of football.

Interesting to see how they do react

In 1999 they definitely celebrated the goals by Beckham and Cole in the away end at OT

But I’m not sure what they will do if either they or City score this time around when it’s the home end and presumably you’ll have shy of 60,000 spurs fans.

If the roles were reversed (and if your God exists and he’s not an utter shit stain they never would be) what would we do as fans?

Got to admit, if the choice was either we make the Cl instead of EL but also Spuds win the league, there's no way I'd want us to win - I suspect at the game if we scored I'd kind of cheer a little and clap half-heartedly but not be into it at all - I reckon a lot of people would be the same - another possibility is if it wasn't the last home game of the season, I might just opt out of going to the game

Again though, the players won't give a damn about that they will want CL football so if (as i hope) Villa lose tonight then the fat aussie and the spuds players will give that Citeh game everything

It's a different scenario and I think I've mentioned it here before, but a saw a video once from the QPR end when Citeh won that first title in the last minute - all the QPR fans were shouting 'come on City' because they didn't want Moan U to win the title

I was at Highbury that day and there were, of course, celebrations when Spurs scored. But it's a bit different a home team celebrating an away goal

If the roles were reversed (and if your God exists and he’s not an utter shit stain they never would be) what would we do as fans?

It's an interesting thought experiment. The only think close I can think of was in the run in one season when Arsenal were nowhere and Newcastle came to Highbury. It might have been the "I'd love it..." season, but not sure. I really wanted Newcastle to win the title instead of ManYoo so I remember before the game thinking I wouldn't be too sorry if we lost that one. But, when it came to it, something took over and I really wanted Arsenal to win, which we did. So I think in the moment the fans probably will support their team and only afterwards think "oh...shit!" if they get something.

But the above scenario is not the same as an Arsenal win letting Spurs in for the title
It's too horrible to contemplate, I don't know how I'd feel.

Marc Overmars

Depends on tonight really. If Villa seal 4th then you can’t really blame Spuds for getting out the City bunting because they’ll have nothing to play for. However if there’s still a possibility of them getting 4th, to actively be urging their team to lose is weird to me. There’s no doubt Levy, Ange and the team will want 4th due to the financial boost and being part of the expanded CL.

I'm sure the players are whipped up for a NLD, so in that sense they "get" the rivalry. But ultimately, they want to be at the top of the game which means being in the CL, that will be their primary focus. If that's possible then they won't be holding back tomorrow. I just don't think they're good enough to stop the City juggernaut, Spurs' defence has been hilariously poor of late.

Yeah that’s it really. They’ll lose because they’re shit. Nothing to do with anything else.

Sadly I agree, if Liverpool beat Villa tonight at least Spuds will really have something to fight for but even then I hold out very little hope

While I would look more at other games in terms of ones where we really ought to have done better, it's undoubtedly true that the Villa loss pretty much shut the door

If villa then lost to Palace and Spuds beat the worst team in the league, goal difference won't come into it.

How did they beat Arsenal twice?

Yes, they are pretty shite. But it's a pretty shite league so they are up there, floating. Absolutely, should never have dropped points to these turds but Arsenal are still very weak when teams don't allow them to play. There's still a big problem with Plan B. Arteta tends to stick with Plan A until the bitter defeat. There are signs though he's started to become a bit more inventive towards the end of the season. But then we get the Utd game and it's back to square one. A bit frustrating.

It feels like since the Bayern games we've started sitting deeper when not in possession, we did it v Citeh too, not sure whether that's about preserving players' legs at the end of the season or trying to catch teams on the break more but it does invite pressure, it was really obvious re Man Ure and could have cost us the three points if they weren't so bad

I actually think it’s because we’ve learned from the mistakes of last season. Far too many games were end to end and we were going life and death to get results. We’ve been a lot more ruthless and calculated this time and of course having the confidence to defend deep with Saliba and Gabriel helps a lot too.

Not sure, if they find themselves behind I can’t see them busting a gut to get a result late on. Not because of anything to do with us but because only a win is of any use to them.

They have to score first otherwise this is going to be dampest of all squibs.

On the first bit I know what you're saying but I still think they'd still want to show they can level things up against Citeh

First half they were better. We were a bit lucky with the offside goal (probably was, but it was of those ones so marginal that, for the sake of logical consistency, I think they should just leave).
And yeah, that bloke had a good chance and Son did near the end of the half.
