View Full Version : Spurs vs City - Tuesday 14th May 20:00

Arguably the most important game in our season, being played out between Manchester City and what can be best described as Reticent Surrogates.

I was hopeful that Brighton, Forest, Wolves or Fulham could get something. But hope and definitely not expectation. Not to say that there is expectation tonight, but I think it’s possible that Spurs can get something even if I’m not overly convinced they will.

Even before the Villa defeat, it seemed likely that this game would prove crucial.

I will say that after the Villa defeat, it’s to our immense credit that we have taken things this far

If City win, they are to all intents and purposes champions elect

If Spurs win, it could be argued that this is what we will be

If it’s a draw, we become favourites but it’s still up for grabs giving Everton will provide more of a dogged opposition than West Ham

I’ve spoken to a couple of Spurs supporting friends. One said that they think Spurs aren’t ready for the champions league, but that the worst result for them would be a draw.

I hope Spurs win, tbh.

Trying not to get my hopes up as I do think this will be fairly routine for City. If the game was earlier in the season I’d give Spurs a chance but at this stage and with what’s now at stake for City, I don’t see them slipping up and I think they’ll win by 2 or 3 goals. It would be very out of character for them to drop points now.

A draw would still mean quite a nail biting final day because you’d think City will demolish West Ham if they have to and wipe out our +3 advantage easily.

A draw would make for a very stressful final day. I back us to beat Everton but yeah, City could absolutely take apart West Ham and beat us on GD

The funniest scenario would be spurs losing tonight, their fans celebrating but them West Ham get a result against city, arsenal beat Everton and win the league

I dunno. It would be pretty Spursy to let their fans down for most of the season - after the standard good start to get their hopes up, before dashing them - and then win the one game which would push Arsenal to the brink of the title.

I now have the Spurs mindset.

I spoke to Dan, Mr Levy to you, this morning and he assured me that he is going to spend at least 1 billion pounds of his own money in the summer buying the best players in the world. He then promised me that next season Spurs will win the PL, the CL, the LC and the FA Cup. Even if Spurs do not finish in the top 4, they will be playing CL football next season and WILL win it.

I have no doubt whatsoever that Spurs will win tonight 24-0 as 8 of their wonderful players will get a hat trick.

I also know for a fact that at the next general election the blues will whitewash the reds. There will not be a single labour MP in Parliament at the end of this year.

I also know that Father Christmas lives in the North Pole because I have seen him there and he is a personal friend of mine.

I am a Spurs fan until about 10pm tonight. I will spend the next week either in therapy or trying to wash off the kind of dirt that cannot be washed off.

I don't need to say COYS because I know they will win comfortably tonight.

That's a good question.
I mean, let's face it, we wouldn't want Spurs to win the league, would we?
I think when it comes to it you always want your team to win, but it would be pretty sickening if us getting a result could potentially let Spurs in for the title though

How would we be feeling and what would we want to happen if the situation was reversed ?

If we had a chance of qualifying for the CL then I would absolutely back us to win. If we didn’t, then I guess there wouldn’t be any tears over it due to the silver lining of spoiling our rivals title charge.

I think what most Spurs fans have forgotten here is that their team will try to win because absolutely no professional sets out to lose a game. Their opinion means sod all really and I doubt a rivalry with Arsenal is going to play on the minds of players and coaches from all corners of the globe. Pretty sure Daniel Levy is desperate to be in the CL as well given the riches that come with it and the shiny stadium that needs paying off.

Spurs won’t win tonight because they’re shit though, not because of any other factors.

It’s kind of the football tribalism equivalent of virtue signalling I guess

I usually will watch a Spurs game if I think they’ll lose that game, either that or we are playing them

Or in rare circumstances where a Spurs victory benefits Arsenal

If they are playing a game I expect them to win, I’m not going to go out of my way to watch. But I can’t say I go out of my way to avoid it either. I’ll just produce a disgruntled “ugh” if they score

For me it’s a kind of nothing to lose free hit

I felt the title was probably lost to us after the Villa defeat (and in fact I didn’t think we’d take it to the wire)

If City wins I’ll be disappointed but hardly devestated.

I'm at peace with the thought that City aren't going to slip, but that was partly based on the thought that we had the harder run in and even if City did slip we were pretty unlikely to win at WHL and Old Trafford. And then we did. So... Yeah, now it suddenly feels possible. But City still have to slip and Spurs are shit, so...

I would almost rather Spurs lose than it be a draw. That's stupid, because a draw means it's possible we can win the league on GD. But I can see us getting a nervy 2-0 vs Everton, City absolutely thumping West Ham 5-0 and us losing it on GD anyway :ilt:

Would be quite funny watching them having to analyse how a rookie coach they all wrote off has broken the Pep-Klopp dominance.

Not about his job I don’t think

It’s because it’s easier for City to win the title than a team that would remind him what was possible for United if it wasn’t so disastrously run as a club in terms of who they bring in, in terms of coaching and playing personnel

Yeah. That's how I feel. Let's just win the game, get 89 points. We may get a miracle, we almost certainly won't. But either way the progress this year has been clear this season. If it's not enough to win the league then so be it. We've lost out to a team who everyone knows has been cheating for the last 15 years. We've pushed them all the way, you can't ask much more than that.

To be fair to Spurs fans (which I'd concede is generally not a good idea), it was literally 3 blokes. Look how cropped that photo is.
Pathetic behaviour, certainly, but WHL did not erupt in celebration at the opposition scoring. But the "Are you watching Arsenal?" was more widespread and it is very small club mentality. But that's what happens when you're the smaller club in a rivalry. If you don't have much of your own success to celebrate the only thing left is enjoying the scraps of your rival failing. Not that Arsenal have failed this season, we've only lost out to a club who have been cheating for the last 15 years.

He’s nailed it. Spurs are definition of small club.

Now for West Ham to get a result and us win the league to see their celebrations be for nothing

They tend to celebrate over nothing anyway, so they won't notice.

What's the bet De Brown and that Shakespearian GK of theirs will make remarkable recoveries? I know Saka can be a bit hysterical if somebody brushes up against him, but these two are a massive joke. Do they have wives? Wonder what the girls think of their "men" acting up like that? Maybe they are lesbians, there's a lot of that going around these days. Or, worse, feminists. Maybe they like their "men" to have dolly-bird haircuts roll around the floor.

I think the Hammers will give them a game. As we've always said, Moyes is a master tactician in these situations. Well maybe we never ever said that, but it could be true this time.

Well you'd best rush over and suck his cock then. I wasn't laughing at his face getting smashed in (though I am now), I was laughing at his girlie crying when he got a bump and his tantrum when he got subbed. All theatre.

As always I’m laughing at how full of shit you are

But as ever admiring of how constantly being wrong about everything doesn’t deter you in the slightest

Ever watched a rugby match - played by men. As in men, not footballers. You can apologise for these faggots all you want, but I still see them rolling around crying. You think just because one of the cunts actually got injured it wipes away the thousand feigned injuries and the femininity that has infected the game? Up to you. Doesn't work for me. Never liked male pussies.

The fact is that you went on and on as you always do, and when it turns out one of the players did suffer an actual injury you turn it into a general appraisal and then compare apples and oranges.

This obsession with homosexuality you have is also quite telling Colonel Frank Fitch
