I think that was a game they would have lost even if they needed to win. Which is why it’s embarrassing how Spurs fans wanted to lose against City.

Was at a quiz on Friday and two of the guys on my team - both Spurs fans - were all but high fiving each other about losing to City. Embarrassing.
At one point one of them said to the other “if we could have finished top 4…”
I interjected “you could have finished top 4!”
And he started arguing about that.
He was arguing with numbers. Stupid bastard.
Not the brightest. But pretty good on a sports round, it turned out

I think he's genuinely a bit weird tbh, although he's very funny at times, some of it's perhaps a bit put on, to get people to watch

Well whatever, he's spot on here I reckon. Almost no-one is standing by and applauding their amazing "achievement", because at one level or another literally everyone knows how they got there.

I think the point he made at the end is the most pertinent one. About how what they did can no longer be replicated because of FFP regulations and that’s why the Saudi’s have been relatively quiet at Newcastle. FFP was essentially put into place to stop another Man City happening, where a club could artificially inflate sponsorship deals and drop copious amounts on players without needing to worry about losses should the player not perform and need to be moved on. That’s the platform on which the club today is built on. Yes Pep is great and yes they have a great team but it is impossible to respect the club for what it is because they simply would not exist in the manner they do now without Abu Dhabi activating a cheat code.
