Was just reading up on the format change and I think I actually like it. Drawn against 8 different teams with 4 fixtures at home and 4 away. Every game will probably have something riding on it because of the overall league table with 36 teams.

The aim is to finish 1st-8th so you qualify for the last 16.

9th-24th means a play off for a last 16 spot.

25th-36th are eliminated.

I'm not so keen, I don't think having more games is good for the club or tbh for fans who have to find the time to watch all these games, but hey if it lines UEFA's pockets further them I guess it's OK, right?

I’m on record as saying I’ve hated every new Champions League format in the past twenty or so years

I liked it best with two group stages and then the 1/4 final

For me the whole point of European club competition is to play the same team both home and away (with the exception of the final) because otherwise it’s a complete gamble as to how you do. You could end up playing the shit teams all away from home and the decent teams at home.

Yup, pretty easy draw...though I feel we always do better when we are the underdogs.

Seems this new format encourages wins, seeing as if you drew all your 8 games there is almost no way you'll qualify.

Lets see how it goes, but for now I feel like this change to the format won't last.
