I care but it's not my life and it never will be.

Arteta is a fantastic manager and he is going nowhere for a few years yet. If you don't like it then find another team.

You are obsessed and that is not healthy.

Mac76
08-12-2024, 06:32 PM
The thing about Chelsea is they've a squad packed with good players - while we have on the bench Nwaneri who, whille he should get more minutes, is very young, and losers like Sterling and Jesus, they bring on people like Joao Felix

If the Liverpool doubters are proved right Chelsea have to be favourites for the title

If we want to compete we need a goalscorer - Newcastle are floundering so we need to break the bank for Isak in Janaury if we can get him to leave - if not even someone like Wissa who's equally up to speed in the PL

Chelsea won courtesy of two penalties because Spurs are too fucking useless to defend properly

They lucked out with Palmer (fuck knows why City thought selling him was a good idea) and their squad is largely filled with mediocre players or unknown quantities. I think this Italian has helped by keeping the team settled. But as I say when you have a wage bill that dwarves the GDP of pacific island nations it’s not a sustainable way of running a football club.

But if either Liverpool or Chelsea win the title it’s a result of gross negligence on our part…we don’t have an actual striker  I laugh but it’s the truth. What Arteta thinks because Guardiola did it, he should do it….maybe someone should tell him that Guardiola dipped his head in raw sewage see if he will do the same thing.

You are obsessed and that is not healthy.

It’s not my life either. But maybe instead of the empty platitudes you should have actually got to the point you wanted to make which is that you don’t like my bashing of Arteta.

Well I’ll stop bashing him when he stops being a galaxy brained, passive aggressive control freak. But he won’t because that’s who he is. So alternatively I’ll be happier when he fucks off. Because we’ve got a few players in the prime of their careers. Do I think Rice is massively overrated ? Yes but he’s still probably better than most of that England midfield. Plus Odegaard, Saka and Saliba. Does he think they’ll stay out of loyalty to him, they might have tolerated us finishing second to Man City but not finishing third to Liverpool and Chelsea.

And if that doesn’t make you angry. I can only assume you’re incapable of anger and I envy you.

Also you don’t find another team, I fail to see why anyone would change the team they support. Given how I’ve never wanted children, Arsenal are a metaphorical surrogate…in that more often than not they prove to be a bitter disappointment to me

How many trophies are you going to win in your second season Ange?

This is what I can’t understand if I’m honest

I care far more about what benefits us than laughing about Spurs

I remember being ticked off years ago when Spurs fucked it up when they were 3-0 up at home to United. Not because Spurs blowing a three goal lead isn’t funny, but it would have benefited us for them to beat United. I don’t see Spurs as a threat to us at the moment, I find them actually quite pitiable which to me is a far greater insult than hatred.

That plus I absolutely despise Chelsea top to bottom, seeing them getting liquidated would give me almost as much joy as us winning the title

Caring isn’t a binary thing.
There are different degrees of caring, you can care about something without losing your shit at every setback. I’m frustrated we didn’t take advantage of the Merseyside Derby and put some real pressure on, it’s not going to spoil my day though.

Grow up.
He’s made us into genuine contenders for the first time in ages. Yes we’ve spent big but other sides have shown you can throw money around to little effect.
It’s it’s Liverpool of Chelsea who benefit from City’s drop off then I do think that would be a sackable offence, I’m not sure Arteta is the man to get us over the line. But the level of vitriol you have for him is insane and, honestly, a bit childish.

When you’ve spent almost £700 million quid, I’m inclined to be about as tolerant of failure as Ernst Stavro Blofeld

That I don’t like Arteta naturally tends to be more pronounced when he’s stood on a bear trap instead of finding the back of the net when we were handed, with the news of Rodri’s injury the best opportunity to win the league we’ve had in over 20 years. For me, I feel when considering this that my anger is if anything understated.

I don’t feel the inclination to debate how appreciative I should be of Arteta…because whatever I’ve said on here about him, pales in comparison to what I’ve said in private conversations with friends.

Grow up! Says the consummate child. A plaything for authority, instructing the doubters that subservience is utopia. This is what modern sport is about, a mimic of what used to be. Now used by slaves to demonstrate their liberty.

When you’ve spent almost £700 million quid, I’m inclined to be about as tolerant of failure as Ernst Stavro Blofeld
Is it that much? It's certainly a lot, and I've made it clear I also don't think failure should be tolerated this year. City are having their worst season in years, having been genuine contenders the last two years for it to not be us who capitalises would be unforgiveable. As I said, it's a sacking offence in my view (I doubt the Arsenal board agree)

It's fine to not like him, but to talk about "hate" is ludicrous. I would reserve that adjective for very few people - people who are actually making the world a worse place. Arteta at worst isn't as good at his job as he should be, he's not actively trying to destroy things. Personally I do quite like him, I just don't think he's the man to get us over the line of winning a really major trophy.

I don’t feel the inclination to debate how appreciative I should be of Arteta…because whatever I’ve said on here about him, pales in comparison to what I’ve said in private conversations with friends.
That does not help my view of you being childish. Which is not a good trait for a man in his 40s, whatever 1970s Doctor Who might say.
Being child-like - retaining some wonder at the world - is a good thing.
Being childish - having tantrums when your favourite team don't win, not so much.

It’s not a good trait, and I’ve never argued that it is. But if you’re telling me you’ve never sulked, never launched into angry tirade which doesn’t match the gravity of the situation….then you’re only lying to yourself.

I haven’t come here to be the best version of myself. Quite the opposite. And actually frankly I think it’s quite healthy to rant and get your frustrations and resentments off your chest. I think the anger is justified, is it anywhere near as important as something going on in my personal life? No not at all….but I’m 41 now and I was 20 the last time we won the title. As I’m sure you know the older you get the more it feels like life passes you by, and when you squander opportunities that will not come around every day…..that’s infuriating.

And no I don’t like him at all. I liked Wenger because he had character, used to make pithy comments with a wry smile. And I think there was more of a natural humility to him.

Arteta seems devoid of personality, his arrogance is not matched by his ability…he comes across cold, awkward and a control freak. Wenger could be stubborn and assume he knew better as well, but I think that comes across less inappropriate when you have actually won something substantive to justify that attitude.

I liked Emery, I think he wasn’t the right coach for us and I think he wasn’t respected by the players (but frankly a lot of the players were arseholes).

I was quite pro Arteta at first, I thought tactically we looked better organised and he wasn’t taking shit off players like Ozil and Guendouzi. But then it became that he started freezing out players to throw his weight around. I also thought he liked shifting blame onto players when it was obvious that the way he was setting up teams was setting them up to fail.

Fair. I just very rarely do it about football any more. Just generally I find I've chilled out a fair bit as I've got older.
I guess if you can't vent on here though then where can you?

Got more supple in the spine, you mean? Now you can bend over backwards. You seriously don't realise, YOUR CALM AND PRIDEFUL SUBMISSION is how the whole world went to shit. You, and the clones like you, in the millions. Foot soldiers for the limp dicks who would otherwise be bitches to be passed around. But you give them the power and you boast about it. And you are so blissfully confident about your submission, you wear it as a badge.

Seriously. Stop drinking alone. It's not helping you or making you happy.

City's hearing has concluded, verdict expected in Spring.

I genuinely have no idea what to expect, it's pretty much unprecedented.

I'm more leaning towards being cynical and them getting away with basically a slap on the wrist, but I can see an argument for being more hopeful and them getting a genuinely huge punishment including relegations, because the PL will want to send a message that they mean business when it comes to fucking them about.

Obviously my preference for having them liquidated them and them starting again in the 10th tier isn't going to happen, but to my eye there's a range of plausible outcomes anywhere between from getting off scott free to being relegated to League 2 and the owners being forced to sell the club.

We just don't know at this stage, and anybody claiming any certainty whatsoever about this is either lying or delusional.

I reckon it will be a slap on the wrist. Do the FA really care about this? It's all generated a shit-ton of money for the sport. People moan about it but they keep watching, or enough do

Interesting. The view from some commentators is that this may be more than just a slap on the wrist. But I guess we will see. There is bound to be an appeal from them if it is a substantial points deduction or worse..

It's the Premier League, not the FA, that are pursuing this.

Important difference, as I understand it, because the PL is made up at least in part by the clubs who play in it.

I can think of one or two PL clubs who'd be very interested indeed in City's downfall
