I think people don't realise just how poor PL teams are, from top to bottom, and just how ordinary PL players are despite their ludicrous salaries. Any team from the 80s or 90s would annihilate this league. So it all becomes quite random, increasingly so as the quality of the lazy, overpaid, eternally injured players increases. Toss a coin, go look at the Asian gambling markets, figure out who is reffing and who is rigging VAR, there probably still is a way to predict a result.
All I know is Villa are abject shite and this should be an easy win for any team that gets the elementary tactics right and has 11 players on the pitch that give a damn about the shirt. Is that us? Well you never know, there have been times when we approximated that in the past.

Bournemouth have a team full of young(ish) and quick attacking players, they were able to press Newcastle off the ball when they tried to play out. They a) wouldn’t try to play out against us b) would only need one long ball to get a runner to dissect our midfield and then they are straight at our back four.
In some ways you can see why we try to benefit from set pieces, we simply don’t have the players for aggressive quick football

Most players from that era would be able to make League 1 at best, admittedly partly on fitness levels alone but also tactical awareness and for the most part skill too
Villa are not 'abject shite' either, we'd take Watkins, Rogers and Duran any day of the week

Tactical awareness? You are buying into that? And yet all the "tactical awareness" gurus keep on gushing about our corner takers being able to deliver a ball into the box? Don't fool yourself, the standard in this league is low, very very low.

Compared to what and when?
I don’t know about tactics but in terms of fitness and athleticism it’s unprecedented. Technically hard to say because the game is more about athleticism than it is technique. But equally you do have a habbit of crying for the moon with everything. To the point where you’re a borderline neophobe

I’m not sure what the manager has got to do with it
Don’t get me wrong I think Leicester were harsh in sacking Cooper even though he looks like an extra from the Goonies.
When you have a side like Leicester you have the choice of going full Everton (and even then that guarantees nothing) or go for it like Burnley did under Kompany. It’s more than likely that the three promoted clubs will go straight back down, because you can’t polish a turd. And unfortunately I can see this being the case for some time to come. I think Kieran McKenna has done an excellent job with Ipswich but you can’t match the buying power of established premier league clubs.

Nope, it means that at minimum the gap will go back to six points (which will become nine points when Liverpool play Everton). The idea that we are in a title race is farcical, we haven’t been in a title race since failing to win at Fulham. We are in a race for top four, and with the injuries we have it’s a race we are set to lose

The idea Liverpool are in the title race is farcical and that will be demonstrated at the sharp end of the season. Their defence is non-existent and they rely 100% on Salah. If he avoids injury for the remainder they'll be a challenge, but only because we and the gypos are so inconsistent. If he gets injured then they will easily be overhauled. Don't forget the points we had robbed from us, add those back in and we're level on points with these world-beaters, despite our mediocre season.

I think Liverpool will be the weakest champions in near on a decade but you can’t win a title without a striker

Which is why I think it all comes down to Salah's fitness. Liverpool can't win it either, without him. And I don't count out the gypos yet. They could easily just start winning every game in a row.
