Same spiel as before, don’t know where goals are coming from etc.
The last couple of times we’ve played this lot in the Netherlands, the fixture has been a bit of an afterthought. We lost in November 2022 but we didn’t put out strongest team, same in the group stages last season when we drew 1-1
Looking at this tie in general, if we find some way of scoring two goals over two legs I think we will win if not I don’t think we will
Anyway 0-3 Romario hat-trick

Maybe with our sound defence Arteta is looking for us to proceede through to the final on penalty shoot outs hoping that Raya doesn't dive BEFORE the opposing player has even put the ball down.

2-1 us.
Calafiori & Nwaneri with the goods.
Merino to wander about near the goal and not do much.

Optimistic
Until Saka comes back, I would not feel confident backing us to score full stop
Strangely despite my recent pessimism, I think we might nick this. We contained a decent attacking side away at Forest, and I'm not sure its in PSV's DNA to play with our kryptonite low block. Should be some opportunities for Rice; Odegard; Nwaneri...But we need to see better performances from the first 2.
Also, the players know that it's all on this now - we have had a decent rest and we need to be properly up for this one.

Last crumb of the season, hopefully we can pull ourselves together and at least get through this and somewhat enjoy the glamour tie that awaits after.

I’m of the view that even if they do come and attack it won’t make much difference to our ability to put the ball in the net
I’d love for Rice, Odegaard, Trossard to step up with the goals. I just really don’t see it. Even though he was missing ridiculous chances, I think Havertz holding up the ball is something we really miss
But will see I guess

Partey in for Jorginho, Calafiori in for Lewis-Skelly. Whilst I prefer Calafiori, he’s more likely to get done for pace (although just looking at their team news…they’ve got Perisic on the right hand side)

At 3 nil up, we're going to have a lot of defending to do, so bringing in Califaiori for a yellow carded MLS is sensible.
A bit of a shame though as I actually wanted to see if Arteta would gamble a bit and play Caliafiori in Merino's spot, as I do think he'd be an ok emergency no 9.

As big a mess as Utd are, they're nowhere near as bad as PSV. No team has given us that much space to play all season.

I’m not even sure how to appraise that game. Shearer spewing Platitudes at us. But honestly I really don’t think we were that special tonight…..and I don’t mean that as a dig at our players, they worked hard and they were consummate professionals. But I don’t remember ever playing a team that incompetent….i mean in fairness they looked ok going forward at times, played some hard to deal with crosses, lots of pace, very direct etc.
But their defence and their goalkeeper? The fuck was that. We are the first team to score 7 goals away from home in UCL in knock out stages. Yeah there’s a reason for that, to get to the knock out stages you have to be able to play football.

I was there less than ten years ago, where it was a place for mainland Chinese to get away from the watchful eye of the CCP (notice there were a few same sex couples in the hotel I was staying, and that’s definitely not allowed in the peoples republic…I mean it’s technically legal there but it’s technically legal in Russia as well). That and it was a giant laundry for the Chinese to filter their dirty money through
But whilst previous leaders have taken a bit of a look the other way attitude to personal freedoms etc, Xi is probably the most authoritarian leader they’ve had since Mao (or Deng Xiaoping at the very least). So even in an autonomous region like Hong Kong the squeeze has been put on.
Not sure if it’s the same in Macau, I imagine the crime syndicates do enough terrorising there that Beijing probably feels it doesn’t need to step in.
