Only a few games to make his mark, but it should help him get match fit again. Can see him being in Wenger's first team plans next season.

Not sure about this. He does the same thing Arteta does and is younger so if the Spaniard is oing to play a significant role next season, we might as well sell him and get Denilson back who does the same

One of Arsenal's brightest prospects, Serge Gnabry is waiting in the wings to become the Gunners' next big thing, so we did some digging to find out a bit more about a player who used to pretend to be Zinedine Zidane in the school playground.
THE NITTY GRITTY
Name: Serge Gnabry
Position: Midfield
Club: Arsenal
Date of birth: 14/07/95
Place of birth: Stuttgart, Germany
NEED TO KNOW
Fast, strong and has an eye for goal, the young midfielder looks set to develop into a class act for the Gunners. Signed ahead of the current 2011/12 season, he can play on the wings and through the middle behind the strikers.
International honours: Germany U16 and U17
FIVE FACTS
1) Born in Stuttgart to a German mother and Ivorian father, Gnabry played and shone for local youth sides before his father allowed him to join Stuttgart's U13 team, having turned them down previously because he wanted his son to develop away from pro academies.
2) He was a very promising young sprinter, competing around Germany at athletics meetings. "I never lost a race," Gnabry told the official Arsenal website, "but it came to a point where I had to make a choice between athletics and football."
3) Gnabry won Player of the Tournament at the 2010 Nike Cup, which his Stuttgart side won, prompting the Gunners to offer him a week-long trial with their U16 side. He was snapped up, but had to wait until he turned 16 in July 2011 before moving to England.
4) After going on to star for Arsenal's U18 side, Gnabry was included in Neil Banfield's reserve team for matches against Chelsea in March 2012. He then played against West Brom reserves and scored against the Baggies when lining up alongside Johan Djourou, Andre Santos and Marouane Chamakh.
5) Before signing for Arsenal, Gnabry courted interest from Man City, but while he chose North London over a club that's become known for poaching Gunners, there could be another familiar foe for Gooners to beware, because the young German supported Barcelona as a kid.
WHAT'S BEEN SAID
He says:
“I have a good shot. I practice my shooting a lot and if the shot is on because of the opening and the 'keeper is positioned in a way where there is a chance, I am not afraid to shoot.”

Zenit attacking midfielder Andrey Arshavin has revealed that he escaped unhurt from a car crash on Thursday.
It had been reported that the Russia international was driving his BMW in St Petersburg when he collided with another vehicle and the player has now confirmed not only the veracity of the story, but also that nobody was hurt in the accident.
"To avoid the unnecessary gossip, I'd like to give a statement," Arshavin wrote on his official website.
"It is true that I was involved in an accident today [Thursday], but I am okay and nobody got hurt.
"What do I remember of the incident? A tram driver gave me a grapefruit as he was passing by."
Arshavin, who has been capped 68 times by his country, rejoined Zenit on loan from Arsenal just before the close of the Russian transfer window in late February.

Vela will almost certainly stay permanently in Spain.
Lansbury staying at Arsenal looks doubtful, considering the amount of midfielders in front of him. Although he has probably earned himself a chance.

I actually think Lansbury would be better than Ramsey in our 3 midfield formation. At least he has the energy to play the 2nd CM role. Ramsey is not creative enough to play behind the striker and also too weak/slow to play in CM. :coffee:

Sao Paulo have confirmed they still harbour hope that Arsenal's Denilson will be allowed to return to the club on loan, after conceding they cannot afford to buy him outright.
The 24-year-old is a youth-product of Sao Paulo’s academy, but moved to the Gunners in 2006. However he failed to nail down a consistent starting place in London and subsequently returned to his boyhood club on a temporary basis last summer.
Since returning to Brazil, Denilson has featured regularly in the Sao Paulo team, making 36 appearances domestically and the club are hopeful they can convince Arsenal to let him remain with them for the time being.
Speaking to Globo Esporte, Sao Paulo vice-president Joao Paulo de Jesus Lopes said: "Arsenal's staff want him to return but we are waiting for [director of football] Adalberto Baptista to have talks with them.
"Maybe we will manage to extend the loan for six more months or even another year. They [Arsenal] liked his performances, they liked Denilson's development. That's why they want him to return."

Arsenal forward Joel Campbell has claimed that he will spend next season on loan at Real Betis.
The Costa Rica international had been looking forward to returning to the Emirates this summer after a season-long stay at Lorient but he is now eagerly awaiting his imminent move to Spain.
"It's a great opportunity for me to grow," Campbell told Fox TV. "I am going to the world's best league, and I want to play."
Campbell joined Arsenal from Costa Rican outfit Deportivo Saprissa last summer but was loaned to Lorient after failing to secure a work permit.
The 20-year-old striker, who has been capped 14 times by his country, netted three times in 25 appearances in Ligue 1 last season.

Craig Eastmond believes his versatility will hold him in good stead as he seeks to break into the first-team squad this season.
The defensive midfielder was included in this summer's pre-season tour of Asia and was deployed in a new centre-back role against a Malaysia XI and Kitchee.
Eastmond won the Youth Cup in 2009 as a right back and he feels that adding yet another position to his repertoire could help him add to his first-team appearances.
"I used to be a right back when I was young, before the boss asked me to move to midfield because he thought I was better there," Eastmond told Arsenal.com after Monday night's Under-21 victory over Everton.
"It's good to play in different positions, because you never know, someone might get injured and you can go and do a job.
"I'm always confident and I’m ready to take my chance with both hands when the boss gives me an opportunity."
Eastmond enjoyed a successful loan spell with Wycombe Wanderers last season and would be open to another temporary move if he can’t make his mark at Emirates Stadium.
"I went on loan and came back, now I'm hoping to break into the first team. If not I can go out on loan again and show the boss I'm ready to take my chance," he said.
"It [Wycombe] was a good experience because I was playing week in, week out. I loved it there and wanted to play all the time and show the boss what I can do. I want to go to a higher level and play in the Championship, maybe even the Premier League.”

Juventus striker Nicklas Bendtner is facing up to three months on the sidelines after suffering a leg injuryBendtner, on a season-long loan from Arsenal, sustained the injury during Wedneday's 1-0 Coppa Italia victory over Cagliari (http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story/_/id/1261617/coppa-italia:-juventus,-cantania-reach-last-eight?cc=5739).
A statement on juventus.com read: "Nicklas Bendtner has undergone an MRI scan and ultrasound that have revealed a lesion on his left adductor tendon. The prognosis will become clearer after further examinations which the Danish striker will undergo in the coming days."
The injury leaves Fabio Quagliarella, Mirko Vucinic and Sebastian Giovinco as the only forwards available to coach Antonio Conte.
Juventus were, however, able to report good news on midfielder Arturo Vidal, who was shown to have suffered only light bruising after complaining of pain in his knee during the Cagliari game.

Most are realistic enough to know that you're doing well to get around two players who become regular first teamers from these groups. The rest tend to be a shade off good enough or just average and making up the numbers. Looks like Gnabry and Bellerin are those particular stand-outs but you never want to call absolute definites for who will make it at this stage unless you have a Fabregas or a Wilshere.
Youth Cup is even more insignificant than this. He'll use the we have the best youngsters in Europe line. The youth cup proves we have better youngsters than the might Blackpool or Stevenage.
It'll also let him use the old "we're a young team" excuse he's used since 2005 if we draft a few youngsters into the squad.

Arsenal youth v Chelsea in the NextGen semi-finals is on Eurosport 2 now.
Akpom has just scored. Great pass from Gnabry to put Bellerin through on goal and he squared it for Chuba chups to tap in.
A tremendously shit playing surface for the occasion. To add, Stewart Robson is commentating.

Pretty big shake up happening in the youth ranks. We've released a bunch of youngsters and have signed some real quality so far this summer.
Jamal Raage (gotta be a star with that name) Dan Crowley (Supposedly pretty awesome kid from Villa), Yaya Sanogo and Julio Pleguezuelo (Labelled the next Puyol and stolen from Barca).
Now I now "Youth Project" is greeted by a lot of sarcastic laughter by Arsenal fans but it's worth noting that the closest we've come to having a league winning team in recent years was with a young team. It's been the established players that have largely let us down.
Some of the most enjoyable football played by Arsenal in recent years was in the Carling Cup when the youngens were pretty awesome for several years.
Anyway, good luck fellas. Hope you turn out good!

Arsenal sign Swedish youngster Kristopher Da Graca
Arsenal have signed 15 year old Swedish defender Kristopher Da Graca following a successful trial.
The promising youngster, who has emerged through the ranks at Gothenburg-based side Hisingsangen Backa, had previously spent time on trial with Arsenal’s North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, as well as Chelsea, Aston Villa and Malmo.
However, after impressing during a short spell at London Colney, he will now move to the club on a permanent basis, although he will not be eligible to sign scholarship terms until next summer as he was born in June 1998.
The player himself confirmed the move in the Swedish media. He said: “It’s wonderful, it’s like a dream come true. I cannot describe how excited I am about this.”
Da Graca, who usually operates as a centre-back but can also play as a defensive-midfielder, is likely to be eased into English football slowly and will begin life at Arsenal in the U16 side, but could feature for the U18s as the campaign progresses. He joins fellow Swedish youngsters Kristoffer Olsson and Jamaal Raage at the club, but is also eligible to represent Bosnia and Herzegovina internationally owing to his heritage.

We have the likes of zelalem gnabry eisfeld and akpom breaking through in the coc side but it was quite notable that the defence was entirely staffed by first team squad members.

I'm still sad at how Wilshere's career has gone. God he looked good when he was a teenager. Remember that volley on his debut I think against Rangers in the Emirates Cup? The Gunners signed Wellington, who has been dubbed the ‘new Neymar’ in 2011 from Brazilian club Fluminense.
But he has been unable to play for the club because of work permit problems, spending time on-loan with five different clubs, including La Liga’s Almeria this term.

Jack destroys the gypos until the caravan trash use their ref.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ocs0Grb60Ew
You can see how Wilshere gets injured and how it won't be long until he's injured again. His first touch is sometime a bit loose but his commitment is 100% all the time. So he sets himself up for his own medicine ball moments. If somebody could work with him on that first touch, which is probably more down to concentration than technique. Unfortunately, we have Wenger.
But are we really thinking of selling a kid who has grown up here, is probably the biggest Arsenal fan in the squad, and is better than anything we already have in the middle? Selling this guy so we can retain Coquelin. Or Elneny. Or Ramsey. Or Xhaka? Really?
It's hard to estimate just how big a fuck-up Wenger is. He destroys players. Grinds them to oblivion, with his bullshit, cowardly, tippety-tap nothing ball. No wonder he doesn't want Wilshere. Jack has way too much heart. It almost seems like he wants to win at all costs. Wenger just hasn't been able to train it out of him. Plus Jack's a dirty, English scrote rather than a French pansy. In the PL, what possible use could we have for our own version of Alli or Rooney? Teach him to dive like those guys and he'd be worth an extra 10 points a season.

Fair point, but I was more talking about youngsters around which a buzz had developed before they made their senior debut. These days we hear too much about "wonderkids" and "the next ..." and when you eventually see them play you ask, WTF? Remembering Anelka pitch up, push the ball and then burn the defence before burying it, not an ounce of hype. High octane talent. It was like Owen, same pre-debut build up around Liverpool at that time too. These were real football players with big futures ahead of them. Now I think it's more a marketing exercise. Latest example, Zelalem, or whatever his name is. Where is he now? Hopefully still on track but shouldn't he be ripping it up by this stage?
That said, the kids who played out the pre-season did look good. Better than we have seen in recent years. Not, take your breath away wonderful, but good.

Chris Sutton
It does not get much lower than getting sent off in an Under-23 match - but it may take something like this for Jack Wilshere to realise he must get his act together.
Really? So feigning a head injury and rolling around to get an opponent sent off? That's not lower than Wilshere showing frustration by bumping into an opponent, having just been chopped down by a dirty bastard in the making? Cheating? At U23 level? That's an early start, even by PL standards. But the cheats don't seem to get a mention.
As an aside, because the football itself is never as important to some people, Wilshere had an excellent game and should never have been sent off. Just a few facts that you'd think might be appealing for a so-called analyst. And the fact Jack turned up to play at that level, leaving his ego to one side and then giving 100% effort and commitment, well a few stars that get all the limelight and plaudits could maybe learn a thing or two from that.
Get an honest job Sutton. Get your act together. Nothing lower than a football pundit these days.

Wenger is definitely not involved with the coaching of this team. Far too much forward momentum, energy, ambition. This is how the first team could play if Wenger was taken out of the equation.
Of course the defence looks as suspect as any Arsenal defence, so maybe Wenger has some input there?
Also interesting to see the extreme bias of the officials extends all the way down. A good lesson for the youngsters.
Love the enthusiasm and talent of some of these players. Wenger will have a hell of a job training it out of them if they make the step up.

What has everyone made of Chambers playing CM for Fulham this year? Has he been good enough there to push for a place at Arsenal, or are we still thinking he’s on the way out?
I’ve not really watched him/them this season, but from what I’ve read the Fulham fans absolutely love him, and the journos seem to think he’s just about the only one of “their” players to come out of this season with any credit.
I’ve got say, I have my doubts about whether there’s a role for him here in CM? More than happy to give him serious consideration, but to win a place in the side he’s going to have to be better at the job than Torreira, Guendouzi, Xhaka (who has improved this year) and whoever else we might be looking at this summer, which sounds like a very tall order. It feels more likely that he’d be in for a fairly ignominious, Elneny-type utility role with us, and he probably deserves more of a career than that.
Again, though, we’ve got nothing to lose by taking a look at him there. If he doesn’t impress then it won’t really effect us, but on the off chance that he blows us away then we’ve got a nice problem on our hands (and one that hasn’t cost us any time, money or effort)...

Honestly don't see where he fits in with us, unless it's just utility role.
Leicester offered us 20m the other year for him, if we can get that kind of offer in again then given our situation we'd have to seriously consider it.

he can sometimes be a good player for Fulham but he's made one or two big mistakes as well and i'm not sure he's worth us sticking with if we can get that kind of fee for him
I think he could take Elneny's place in the squad, but that's about it.

Take the 20 million fee and reinvest. 1 TOP centre half and top wide player please.

Another assist and a penalty won for Smith Rowe last night - sounds like they love him at Huddersfield!

hmm, if they werre prepared to pay something decent i might be prepared to sell if i were the club, i've never been quite sure he'll make the grade for us

Ooh, I am! I think he’s going to be a terrific player for us when he finally gets his chance. He shifts easily between playing as a 10 or an 8, can play down either flank, he uses both feet when he needs to, he’s always trying to move the ball forward and he does his bit defensively - I think that ability to move and play in 360° and that willingness to attack and defend is going to be something that Arteta will be looking out for as he starts to put his own side together.

ESR is right alongside Saka as the best academy players to have made the mark. Unless someone coughs up 50 million quid or something insane, I wouldnt let him go.
Open to sending Willock on loan, although I'd rather keep him and ship Ozil off.

Agreed. Whenever I've seen him play I have been impressed. Very confident and composed character. Reminds me of... I'm not going to say it yet, in case I jinx it.

Like Nketiah, he still has it all to prove but I am pretty open minded about him at this stage.

Well Maitland-Niles has kept his place in the England squad with Saka being called up as well, not sure if that's good or bad.

Being called up for England does not actually mean you are a good player. Lots of awful Spuds players have been called up before

Should Salina stop taking PR advice from Guendouzi?

I agree. I don't begrudge him his say - given the way he has been handled - but the more he goes on now, the more concern there is about whether he has the mentality to go with the talent he is now showing at Nice.
