Jack Wilshere to undergo ankle surgery

Jack Wilshere will undergo surgery on his right ankle on Monday morning.

Wilshere has recently been wearing a protective boot aimed at allowing a stress fracture of the ankle time to heal naturally and avoid surgery.

However, scans this week have revealed that the fracture has not responded positively during this period.

Throughout Jack's injury, the Club has been guided by the continuous advice of several world-renowned specialists. The information attained this week has led to the conclusion that surgery is now required to gain an optimal response.

Wilshere is now expected to be out for a period of months. Following surgery these timescales will become more specific.

A Club spokesman said: "We have given Jack time to heal naturally which is important wherever possible with a young player. The latest scans show surgery is needed. Everyone at the Club wishes Jack a speedy recovery."
Probably out for the year.

@Youngungsblogs: Benik Afobe, Abou Diaby and now Wilshere all told weeks out, but turned into months. This is more than being 'unlucky.'

This is fucking unbelievable, no wonder Cesc got his own medical guys towards the end, these fuckers are incompetent.

Rosicky
Vermalen
RVP
Diaby
Wilshire

How many fucking times will they get it wrong...i mean why not sort this shit out in the fucking summer or even after pre-season.

I'm sorry this is incompetent, so we are now without Cesc, Nasri and Wilshire, basically our midfield from last year....

Speechless........

What a surprise ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

As mentioned above, this is happening too many times now for it to be a coincidence. Always the "10 days" turning into 10 years, because the injury is "worse than we thought it was" etc. etc.

Its a joke. Coupled with the fact that our training methods seem to make players more susceptible to injuries than any other team in the league, you really despair sometimes, but then again, you don't need to, as its no surprise and will happen again.

Oh FFS.

Deprived of the one battler we need in the team right now. We are cursed.

Hope he gets well soon and when he is back I hope he's able to quickly reach the level he was at last year. To see an injury like this to such a great young talent is just sad, it could set him back a season or 2 in terms of development.

He tweeted about hopefully being back at Christmas but I guess that should be taken with a pinch of salt.

60 games played by the kid last season because we won't buy anyone fucking decent to give our key players some cover. Everyone, from top to bottom, has left this club in a shambles. When is somebody going to take responsibility and walk? I remember not being worried when Wilshere was initially injured because it was quickly reported it was minor and he'd be out for a couple of weeks. Then I thought, no wait... not the dreaded 2 weeks, and here we are again, same old BS. So much for things improving on the pitch when Wilshere gets back. So much for Wenger looking after the youngsters and bringing them through sensibly. Having our collapse at the start of the season is a bit of variation, I suppose. Is everyone absolutely sure this isn't a season long collapse this time and it will all magically improve any time soon?

We should have played him less....... and bought Yaya, Young, SWP, modric and the other half a dozen quality players that literally begged to come to us at a certain time.

Lost three creative players this summer (Fabregas + Nasri + Wilshere out) and replaced them with two crocks.

Shame, he's a terrific player who's creative and a battler, plus injuries take time to get over.

We've been her before haven't we. But hey saves us needing to sign anyone as he'll be like a new signing when he returns.

God knows what position we'll be in when he returns. He'll probably be back and see us languishing near the drop zone in December.

It shows how far we've fallen when we're depending on some teen in his sophomore year to rescue our season when we've got senior players in the squad that should be stepping up to the plate.

Something has to be done about our medical staff. They just keep getting it wrong and it's his second set back.

Worked out really well keeping him away from the U21 tournament n the summer to avoid any injuries as soon as he came back.

How we were gonna laugh at United & Liverpool when Jones, Smalling, Wellbeck & Henderson returned after no break at all and were out on their feet with exhaustion after the first few weeks.

Bottom line, for a club our size and the amounts of revenue being generated we should be able to say, Wilshere out? No Problem, we'll use a world class replacement until he gets back. But we don't do that, instead we go with a bare bones 11 backed up by dogshit and then get all surprised when so much dogshit ends up on the pitch due to injuries and suspensions that we haven't quite managed to figure out are normal in a season. Of course that gives us the chance to make excuse after excuse after excuse and talk about what might have been had only so-and-so not been (predictably) injured. But the board members have done exceptionally well for themselves so there's a silver lining.

I see YFB has kicked off injury career with us. A top, top summer buy, possibly the signing of the summer. Mad isn't it? Suddenly Arteta, a newcomer to the team, is our senior and most important player. We have nothing else of note in the middle, all sold or injured. What an incredibly shit team we'll see when RvP starts his lengthy spell in the treatment room.

I fucking hate the board. Loathe them.

The initial indications are that the surgery has been successful and Jack will now undergo a prolonged period of rehabilitation. It is envisaged that Jack’s rehabilitation will take a period of four to five months.

It's very simple really. Who else is to blame for him playing too many games and playing a pre season with an injury?

If it's not Wenger then he needs to have a word with his staff. This turned into a few weeks out, to a month, to Christmas and now we're talking next year.

i think if you check your facts mate, you will find he has been carrying this ankle issue since the back-end of last season, that tackle alone did not cause the stress on the tendon....stress and tendon being the operative words.

if he had caused Wilshire to snap his ankle...fair enough, but i suggest you do some reading son before riding Arsene's cock.

Wenger fucked up, as he always does, relying on his best players and over playing them...been an issue for years...was the reason we balls the champions league up in 2004...that should have been our year, but all the players in that team were playing under exhaustion because the squad was so small.

You have anger management issues.

If wanting Wenger out for over a year is 'riding his cock' then you must have wanted him gone since 98. But I'm not going to get hysterical at every setback that occurs and blame Wenger for it.

I blame Wenger for a lot of things, but giving Wilshere a run out in a pre season friendly aint one of them.

Yeah except for the fact that for the last 6 years we've seen injury after injury.

It's Wenger's ideas and methods, he's the guy that controls everything to do with the players, you can't just blame all these injuries on "bad luck".

The guy and his medical team don't have a clue how to manage injured players or players recovering from injuries.

He's still an expert these days, but only in BS tbh.

I'm not - I've complained about this for donkeys and am convinced Kathy Bates is on our medical team. But there were tackles flying in that match that you simply don't expect, nor should you see in that match.
