I don't usually, but went to the bank, and thought it would be rude not to go and see how the new decking is like at my local, on the way back.

When it gets going, you'll find a way to get into the Euros at least. Int summer tournaments are always fun.

Olympics...I don't know. I'm not feeling good about it either but it's in London so it'll help. Something might kick off in the news - an epidemic or summin. It'll keep everyone on their toes.

At least in the Euros you've not got some billionaire buying players left right and centre till they win the bloody thing.
And sport in the Olympics is relatively pure too.
A brief respite from the PL.

A lot of the sport in the Olympics is pure and I do enjoy watching them. I guess I'd prefer it more if they weren't here in London because it has really opened my eyes to the corporate cronyism that surrounds the games and the associated fawning over people who should have nothing whatsoever to do with the Games.

I don't think you "know" any more or less than me.
You're talking about effectively starting a completely new board focussed in a different way.
It seems to me it's too much change with no real evidence that it will help.

There are hundreds of thousands of Arsenal fans out there. You don't need more than a hundred or so to make a very successful board. I don't think the problem here is anything to do with the focus of the board being too narrow.

I think just after we moved to this board, there was some really good debate in AD. GC has suffered, and not recovered. There aren't enough GC'ers to make it interesting, funny or wide-ranging in it's topics.

The regulars are the problem with this place.

Anyone not 110% pessimistic about everything to do with Arsenal is 'deluded'.

Some of that is a reaction to the tendency of a certain group of posters who jump down the throats of anyone making a vaguely "negative" point about Wenger, the board etc. You see it on a lot of threads, where someone makes a comment critical of the manager, and then you get the usual suspects posting excessively sarcastic comments and deliberately misrepresenting the OP's point. Or you get WUMs who post irrelevant pictures or keep referring back to a post that was made ages ago (like Zim's comment about enjoying the 1991-1992 season).

Joker
12-06-2012, 11:59 AM
Having said that, if we do sign M'Vila and Giroud, having already got Podolski, the negativity will die down because it will be a sign of ambition from Wenger, something which we haven't seen for a while.

No, no it won't, the focus will just shift to some other failing and carry on just as relentlessly and with the same boring outcomes.

Xhaka Can’t

Nope, the problem lies with just about every thread being hijacked by the usual cabal. A tongue in cheek thread was created as a result. Even the Wiltord retirement thread threatened to go the same way. But fair dues there, people did lay off when asked to keep it about Wiltord.

That is rubbish.

What people tire of is people overreacting and over-criticizing.

No-one on here is wildly pro-Wenger or the board. But there is a middle ground between "Wenger is a genius who can never be questioned" and "Wenger is a bumbling idiot who has no idea what he's doing". In that middle ground decent debate can occur.

If you only have half an hour or so to look at sites in Rome, I'd recommend a quick visit to the Pantheon. Doesn't need a lot of time but it is a decent eyeful. Free entry too.
Yeah, I went there before when I went to see Arsenal play Roma and made a mini-holiday of it.
Was hoping to combine this with a holiday with MrsL but it's not worked out. Won't have any time to look around really.
Still be nice little adventure though.

No. Not going till 2ish today.

But it really is a flying visit. I have tomorrow evening there but a) England are playing and b) The people I'm training may have arranged something.

Thanks though. :good:
