that awkward moment when you are attempting to purchase the FA cup and your card is refused
McNamara That Ghost...

A straight red card is an automatic 3 match ban no matter what!
Not if it's a professional foul, like denying a clear goalscoring opportunity.
McNamara That Ghost...
08-01-2012, 03:43 PM
Off to do some DIY. Hope the lack of commentary lasts the whole game. :good:
So you go off and the commentary resumes. Hmmm.
It's back :( Still gave us some picture breakup to make up for it though

From what I've read two yellow cards is a one match ban a straight red is a 3 match one.

A Premier League pass? Shut up Beglin.

Nah, Gary Cahill was only suspended for one match. That was a straight red against the Spuds.
A Premier League pass? Shut up Beglin.
:good:
Hope Tommy Rowe scores in this one, got a great (i.e awful) pun all lined up....

McClean smacks it against the bar!

Well that was probably because the FA thought he was going to Chelski and would miss a few games so only a one game ban also the FA have refused to hand Roman back his kickback for doing so :)

Yep it will be a 4 game ban at most if they loose the appeal.

It's four games as it stands. Could be five if they deem it frivolous but I really don't understand why and how they decide it is.

I think they might deem it frivolous...isn't it basically the tackle they want to be seen to be stamping out? Winning the ball might help his case from a purely aesthetic perspective, though.

I tend to agree, I wouldn't have thought it would be repealed anyway. You don't have to make contact to be sent off, so unless they prove it wasn't a two footed challenge there isn't much hope.
Peterborough 0-2 Sunderland, McClean.

He did what he could given the circumstances in the second half. Fortunate goal, but without he and Milner it would've been a damp squib. Nasri was invisible.

The Beeb need to man up when the rights are up for grabs.

Referee Martin Atkinson will definitely miss the game, after pulling out because of illness. It is now almost 11 months since Atkinson took charge of a Manchester United game, after he was fiercely criticised by Sir Alex Ferguson after United's 2-1 defeat by Chelsea.

A thing that annoys me is that people are putting focus on the handshake again. As with Bridge they are trying to paint Terry as the victim and Ferdinand as the villain who is being petty and unprofessional.

Yes exactly.
"This game is based on good values more than anything else," he said. "These players should continue to promote these good values." That's as unhelpful as it is irony-free there AVB...
Pat Nevin quite right to say that the pre-game handshake should be junked anyway. I mean, what's the frigging point? It's the equivalent of being cornered into thinking you have no choice but to 'buy' a poppy to "show how much you care".
