FFS, went in hard, studs-up landing on the ankle (with the lower foot). It was such an ugly tackle by an ugly player. A definite red.

"He got the ball though!"

i think it was murphy, although i can see how you immediately link slip and senderos. easily done

They've just shown it...it was Senderos. He was very lucky today!

Dmebele was out with a broken leg in first season as well. It was an ugly tackle.

Surprisingly - instead of using the 'there was no intent' card, Gary Neville hinted that there was intent "look at the eyes" (when Spearing was clearly looking at the ball  )...I think that's just ratboy wumming the scousers.

Hmm

Wasn't the best replay - the 2 or 3 shown after that you get a clearer view.

FFS Kenny

Not the time to speak sense.

He was fair really.

He was. But I don't agree with him saying "he got the ball first...it's not his fault someone is standing there" - that's not how it works. Anyway it was his raised foot (the one that didn't make contact) that was just as reckless. He threw his weight into it and it was no doubt it was Dench-esque.

But yes - fair enough with him saying 'some weeks it's red, some weeks it's nothing' - I think we all want consistency.

It's hard for the people who have played the game from many years ago to accept that getting the ball doesn't mean anything on its own anymore.

It is pretty difficult not to make some contact with the player though when that player is cutting straight across him.

If he doesn't go in with at least some force then it just wouldn't be worth it and once he's put the challenge in he can't exactly stop himself. Winning the ball shouldn't be the sole decision maker but it should at least be considered in context.

I still have only seen that replay above though so might change my mind.

It will be a non contact sport soon enough

McNamara That Ghost...

It already is a non-contact sport to a certain extent.

Anyway, like you say, once he puts in the challenge he can't stop himself - that is what makes the tackle become dangerous. Having your studs up, at any stage, falls under that.

Robin Van Persie = 14 league goals.

Liverpool F.C = 17 league goals.

Suarez other than his diving/play acting is pretty good though

I can see how it can be seen as reckless which gives the ref every right to send him off. So I guess I have already changed my mind... damn! As always though, a little consistency and clean up of the rules wouldn't go a miss. Lukaku on Henderson was 10x worse and he wasn't even booked (through two decisions).

Your next point sums up our main problem atm. Suarez is a scorer of great goals, but not a great goalscorer. Carroll is... low on confidence. And we have no one else. More £££ in January then.

It wasn't the worst tackle you'll see. But at first glance, the way he went in was very Barton-esque...a feeling that wanted to get the man with the swipe of the left foot if his right foot didn't land. Hard to prove intent though intent doesn't really matter...it seemed like a very dangerous tackle. The speed and weight he threw into the challenge could've easily snapped the ankle. Looking at the whole game, Senderos should've had (at least) 3 yellows, Suarez's pen shout could've went either way and overall Liverpool deserved at least a point...probably 3.

Good result for us. Keeps Liverpool below us. Fulham played well. The ref was right to send that idiot off as well.

Brilliant result for us. Fulham are a strange team. Should have beaten Spurs; took 2 points off us and have now beaten 'Pool, yet they've served up some dross too.

Just seen it all on SSN and they said he was sent off for dangerous play. They also said that FIFA rules state that it is a tackle that is deemed to have used excessive force, or in the case that the force used could injure another player, said player shall be sent off.

Dont see anything wrong with the red card tbh, like you say Syn, that could've easily snapped the ankle.

I see Dalglish also had his usual total cunt reply to the question of the red.

We were expected to win = 3 points. We drew = 1 point. Therefore we lost out on 2 points.

Great. Some nobcheese on Twitter has acquired Paul Faulkner (Villa Chief Exec)'s email address and phone number, and is going to contact him in order to get "that ginger bastard out of our club". He is also going to tell him that there will be a boycott of the Bolton game(erm, an away game that we won't get much of an allocation for. And what is the point of telling someone you're not going to turn up anyway?).
