Looking increasingly like it'll be Rodgers The Muppet.
So obviously, Martinez is a shoe-in.
It'll be a great deal for Liverpool if they get Rodgers tbh.
It will take 3 minutes for the first "Buck Rodgers" flag to be made...
I guess that's a plus.
And BBC say deal done.
TalkSport are being unusually cautious about who will fill the 'higher' positions. Does seem like Van Gaal as Director of Football though. Not sure about that, arguments will probably start within a couple of hours.
It will depend on whether he can take not having 100% control and can work as a team, or even just a partnership. It will placate those who want a 'big name', and a 'footballing brain', though. At least for a while.
I agree, not sure. I can see him leaving after not so long.
As for Rodgers, he seems like the type who can give as good as he takes (fnarr).
certainly is an interesting one. i'd give much of the credit for swansea's style of play to martinez actually because he lay down the ground work; rodgers took over the mantle and accentuated the philosophy. it's like someone taking over brighton this summer and getting them into the premier league in a few years, after everything they've done under poyet and the style of football he's currently implemented. nevertheless we shouldn't take anything away from rodgers and his achievements; he's a good man manager and knows how to handle the media well. he's got a bit of charisma which rubs off onto the players. to be able to motivate a team like swansea to finish 11th shows he has great skill because it' easy to sit back and relax when you think you're safe, only for a bad run to put you right in the relegation mix, just ask ian holloway that. people keep going on about british managers not being given a chance at top clubs well here we have a british manager being given an opportunity, let's see exactly what happens and whether he can handle the pressure. you've got to take a once in a lifetime opportunity and rodgers certainly has, and his brand of football will make liverpool an attractive team next season.
I think he'll do well for Liverpool, well, relatively speaking. I still think the squad needs a lot of work to challenge for the top 4 though.
Have RAWK cut themselves?
