Quite right too.
At least he's still universally loved by Arsenal fans.
Good on Mesut.
Yes he was shit for most of the World Cup but then so was basically the entire German team. For him to get scapegoated and singled out for Germany's failure was disgusting.
Hoping he's out to prove a point and that's reflected in his performances next season especially now we've got a competent manager who knows how to exploit that.
I do not blame him for quitting. He was singled out for criticism when the failure was the responsibility of the whole of the German squad.
Hopefully he quits Arsenal if we continue to scapegoat him enough.
I just came across a very interesting bit of information that might provide a different perspective to this. In September, UEFA will be deciding which country will host the 2024 European Championships. Apparently the choice is between Germany and Turkey.

What a baby. Grow some balls for God’s sake man.
Just to think, all he had to do was not have his photo taken with a repressive dictatorial president
He probably wouldn't be picked anyway based on his age and his performances for Germany.
So, SMatthews, what would have been your recommendation for him to do?
Personally, I do not think that he has anything more to prove with the German national team. The reality is that from now on, he will always be the scapegoat whenever the German team plays badly or has a bad result. As it is, a not insignificant number of Arsenal fans will be happy to see the back of him. I can only imagine the opprobrium that will be heaped on him should Jack Wilshere score the winning goal for West Ham against Arsenal.
