The spirit of Maradona and his mental call-ups still lives on.

Arsenal are set to make a club record £30m bid for Borussia Dortmund's attacking midfielder Mario Gotze, 20, while also promoting a clutch of promising youngsters.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger also wants Hamburg goalkeeper Rene Adler, 28, and Barcelona defender Pleguezuelo Selva, 16.

They rags need to stop constantly churning out the Gotze rumour. It isn't going to happen.
Bid £40m for Suarez, he's a bit good.
You'll win nothing with *****.
I'm not sure I want any players I dislike any more than I like most of our current loy.
It's amazing you got him to sign a new deal seeing as you're shitter than us and we lose all of our best players!!
Same goes for Bale.
There must be a get out clause otherwise why on earth would he sign an extension? Why wouldn't he just run down his deal and re-sign again then if he still loves Liverpool?
The massive pay rise probably had something to do with it. Apparently he was only on about £30-40k.... not anymore he isn't.
There might well be some sort of release clause in there, no idea. If there is then I hope it's similarly massive.
I wouldn't be surprised if he gave it 1 more season with us and called it a day if we don't qualify for the CL, which lets face it is fairly unlikely.
Better than our strike optionsQuote:
Arsenal and Manchester City are keeping tabs on Stephan El Shaarawy’s situation at AC Milan, according to reports in Italy.
The promising striker has been in miserable form since the January arrival of Mario Balotelli and has only added two goals to the 14 he had hit before.
It was only two months ago that El-Shaarawy signed an extension on his contract, which now runs until 2018, but he appears to have grown unhappy at the San Siro, where he arrived in 2011, and could be on his way in the summer.
And his situation took a turn for the worst on Saturday when he was dropped from the starting line-up for the huge Serie A clash with second-place Napoli.
Reports in Italy have suggested that the 20-year-old has confided in friends that he is finding the current situation difficult which has further intensified speculation surrounding his future.
Napoli themselves are interested in El-Shaarawy and may turn to him should they sell the in-demand Edinson Cavani this summer but there is also interest in England, it has been claimed.
Arsene Wenger is expected to strengthen his forward line this summer, with the side still struggling to cope with the loss of Robin van Persie.
City, meanwhile, are expected to spend big after falling back behind Manchester United at the top of the Premier League.
Roberto Mancini is yet to buy a replacement for Balotelli while the future of Edin Dzeko is also unclear.

Probably the best in the leagueQuote:
Arsenal will make a formal offer to Sunderland at the end of the season to sign their Belgian goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, 25.
Full story: the Independent
Not a Ches hater but the argument that his complacency is fuelled by a lack of competition is well founded so this guy is welcome because as well as Fabs seems to be handling himself of late, I doubt many think he is the answer.
However with Mussolini's illegitimate sprog in charge of Sunderland getting the guy may be easier said than done
its been downhill for Chesney since he made that comment on twitter after club legend Ashley Cole missed that penalty, you knew his arrogance would kill him at that moment. hes done, new keeper please.
What’s interesting is that Chesney was dropped after there was that snippet of Bould complaining to Wenger about him during the Spurs game.
Not sure what was said but it circulated on here some months back. Someone else may remember.
that wasn't true.
here's the stunning evidence

What intrigue. . .more drama than Emmardale
well he saw yaya toure marginalised in barcas internal "catalan only" genocide. did song think he was better than people like yaya toure or even busquets leg up or no leg up? deluded. do not want. but tbf he does have better stats than someone like jack wilshere so im not saying he wouldnt improve the team.Quote:
It now appears that the 25 year old midfielder is keen to make a return to North London. The player’s cousin, a fellow former Cameroonian international Rigobert Song, stated that Alex is keen to join up once more with Arsene Wenger’s men.
“Barcelona put so much effort into signing him last summer, and Alex turned down many great teams in order to sign with them’, said Rigobert Song.
“But this season he has only been a substitute. He is not happy.
“At Arsenal he was a leader on and off the field – he doesn’t feel like this in Spain and it makes him feel bad.”
