Wonder if they started heating up the balls for the draw!?!
Christ, PL teams are just horrific in Europe.
Guardiola has been found out a bit this season, previously in his career he's basically managed the best side in the division, whilst he did well at Barca they were already a force before he arrived, at Bayern though he took over a side that had won everything and never won the CL, I see that as a failure overall.
This year in a division where he has competition he's come up short, never liked his style of play either to be honest.
I don't think the same tikka takka style of football that was there at Barcelona and Bayern Munich is there at Man City....i think they aren't a side that try and cut you open with short passes.
City's problem this season has been defence purely and simply.....it's been almost as bad as ours.
To be honest I don't remember Bayern playing titka taka before he arrived, think they played a more incisive game from memory. My point was really that with both his previous sides he inherited an already great team, particularly at Bayern (but even at Barca who always have top players playing for them) and had very little competition.
I'm not a big fan of him to be honest, never have been, never liked his style of football and despite their success found his teams too one dimensional (a bit like Wenger). Whilst they could beat most team because of the sheer amount of quality they had, certain teams could nullify them if they got their tactics right (Chelsea being a prime example) and when that happened they seem to run out of ideas, their get out of jail card was having world beaters to get them out of jail really.
I didn't mention the style of football Bayern played previous to Guardiola arriving, I simply stated that City are not playing the same style of football as Guardiola had his teams play at Bayern and Barca.
Guardiola's weakness is that he is not pragmatic enough in his approach, but Barcelona were flagging before he got promoted to head coach to replace Rijkaard and with or without top players he still turned them into a dominant outfit.
I also think the Barcelona players and the Bayern Munich players under his tutelage were incredibly influential in Spain and then Germany winning the world cup.
Leicester drawn with Atletico Madrid
Bayern Munich playing Real Madrid
Juve playing Barca
And my personal favourite Dortmund vs Monaco (an actual chance of seeing a game of football this season).
What a night that will be for the Leicester fans.
Brings back memories for us, but that's about all.
I get misty eyed just at the thought of the drama some of these ties will bring. Juve-Barca what a clash of philosophies. Athletico-Leicester. the same philosophies running head on into each other. Bayern-Real all the drama behind the scenes as well as on the pitch and Monaco-Dortmund.....showing what can be done with minimal resources
When will Arsenal ever be part of the intrigue. Not till 2021 at least now.
Juventus 2-0 Barcelona, Dybala with both goals.
:haha:
3-0 CHIELLINI!
:haha:
It's WWE Darke, you fucking dinosaur.
3-0 FT.
Barca.
We should get Dybala.
And Allegri.
Hopefully Allegri is not another promising manager we miss out on because of our dinosaur clinging on for dear life.
Dortmund Monaco on in a few. Should be good.
CL footie.....I will miss us not being in it........that music. The bunting.
Terrorists should burn in Hell. BTW
Dortmund fans singing. "You`ll never walk alone".....In English!!!!. Football....It is really the worlds opium. We should co opt it to settle all global differences. TBF
USA v N Korea
Russia V Ukraine
England V Scotland
The latter game would have to be a best of 7 though.
Dortmund been singing YNWA for years. No idea why
But then I remember going to the Emirates when we played Schalke and they were singing roll out the barrel and then even more inexplicably Mike Oldfields Moonlight Shadow
Strange creatures German football fans, have to admire their passion
Anyway Penalty to Monaco, Blazed wide by Fabinho
Mbappe makes it 1-3 Kid is sensational
Tie done and dusted
Monaco.
Kagawa makes it 2-3
Tie back on
Monaco have a lot of amazing young talents that will make up the nucleus of the French side. Mbappe & Lemar will go on to become World class, Bakayoko, Mendy & Sidibe very good international players who will all go on and play for big CL teams. We won't get anywhere near any of these guys.
Bayern Munich 1-0 Marketing, Vidal!
Atleti 1-0 Leicester, Griezmann pelanty.
Penalty to Athletico converted by Griezmann. Foul looked outside the box though.
Vidal skies a pelanty.
1-1 Ronaldo.
Javi Martinez has been sent off too.
Great save from Neuer to deny Ronaldo.
Watching two giants go at each other highlights just how far we are from competing at the highest level. We were bitch slapped home and away and never looked like competing. Real Madrid to win it this year imo they are so strong all over the pitch.
1-2 Ronaldo again
Bayern Munich 1-2 Marketing, Ronaldo.
Marcelo just dropped the Ashes.
Atleti 1-0 Leicester, FT.
BT crowning it as a great result.
Saying Leicester only need to find one goal in the return leg. Er that'd just take it to extra time you berks.
Disallowed goal for Sergio Ramos.
