Although now I read the women's QF's might be on as part of the night session. WTF?
They've screwed up big time here. And all this in a tournament in which they do play on the middle Sunday.
Strawboat-Wearing All England Club Toffs  (or not)
Sky have been showing finals with the delays. :scarf:
Federer vs Del Potro is on at the moment, though they started with the third set. :sarcy:
The 2002 final between Sampras and Agassi was on earlier.
Rafa. :bow:Quote:
Rafael Nadal: "You cannot lie to players, you cannot lie to fans. We need a little more respect. It was raining. I'm the first person here who wanted to play but not if it's raining. Grand Slams feel like they have too much power, they don't care about the players. It's not right. I can't say I don't want to go on court. The ATP must have enough power to say we cannot go on court if it's raining. At Grand Slams we don't have power, this has to change. Grand Slams are the biggest tournaments on the tour but if they don't respect the players we have to do something about it. We've had hundreds of meetings, the only way to change is to stop all the talking. Taking a drastic decision is tough but... I don't like to be in front of the cameras, it seems like I'm the rebel. It's not like that. I say what's fair for everybody. The only way things can change is if the players are united and the ATP supports us."
Seems NQ was right about a new version taking his place.
Serena and Pavlyunchekova were brought out for their match...they were taken off again before finishing their warm-ups.
Take 3 today then
Hows the weather looking?
I believe three days of rain were scheduled. And this is the third.
Has a grandslam ever been extended to a tuesday?
One more washout and it could happen
As it stands, its already at the limit with players facing 4 matches in 4 days to win the tournament. Another washout would mean 2 matches in one day if it isnt extended
I don't think so. Even when Cliff Richard at Wimbledon had to entertain us all (), I'm fairly sure it finished before the third Tuesday. I think if it does end up going to the Monday, it'll be the fourth time in a row at the U.S Open the men's final has had to be on then.
Murray is a break up in the first set.
Roddick and Ferrer have stopped play, water is continuing to seep through the court.
Murray is serving for the first set.
Murray takes the first set 6-2. Nadal has broken back against Muller.
Nadal is serving to stay in the first set.
Nadal is serving to force a first set tiebreak.
Nadal leads 4-0 in the tiebreak.
Nadal takes the first set 7-6 (7-1).
Murray and Young have been exchanging breaks. That's the norm for Murray matches now though I suppose.
Finally a hold of serve, Murray leads 5-3 in the second set.
Murray takes the second set 6-3.
Young. :rose:
Nadal is 4-0 up in the second set and to serve.
Nadal takes the second set 6-1, brilliant tennis.
Muller. :rose:
This time, Muller did his surge and utter collapse against Rafa in the space of a set .
Next time, he'll win one game with four aces and then lose the match 6-1 6-0 6-0.
Murray and Young are at it again.
Roddick and Ferrer are going to hurt someone I think. They're brought back without the problem being fixed.
Roddick and Ferrer out on Court 13 now
Roddick and Ferrer have been moved to Court.13. No TV coverage on that court. :haha:
Whoever loses the Roddick v Ferrer match will go apeshit.
Can't wait.
Considering half of this year's field were already forced to retire, if they play four/five consecutive days of tennis I foresee some tragedy.
Murray wins 6-2 6-3 6-3. Murray was serving in the 30% region for parts of that match. If he doesn't improve that by a mile in tennis terms he will gets his arse handed to him sooner rather than later.
Nadal wins 7-6 (7-1) 6-1 6-2.
I thought they said they had no tv coverage on court 13
BBC. :haha:Quote:
1815: Standing between defending champion Rafa and a place in the last four is the winner of Roddick v Simon. Ahhh Roddick v Simon... finally back under way after crack-gate.
Sam Stosur beat Zvonareva 6-3 6-3.
Serena beats Pavlyuchenkova 7-5 6-1. Wozniacki or Petkovic next for her.
Isner beats Simon 7-6 (7-2) 3-6 7-6 (7-2) 7-6 (7-4). He'll face Murray next, that'll be fun for him.
Roddick beats Ferrer 6-3 6-4 3-6 6-3.
Tipsarevic is a break up in the first set against Djokovic.
As good as it gets for Tippers tbh.
Simon is probably relieved to avoid another Murray thrashing. He only beat Murray once - in their first ever meeting - and has since lost all seven matches, taking only one set from Murray .
Murray loves playing big servers though, Isner shouldn't be a problem unless he has the match of his life.
Djokovic breaks back. 2-2.
