It's not that surprising, I mean Man U have been competitive for years so it isn't entirely surprising a big player would prefer a move to them over us. What's important is that we got him and we can move forward now, the trouble with our policy in recent years is that big players were less and less likely to join but signing Ozil may reverse that trend, it's our lucky break if you like....sometimes you need a bit of luck to get things going.
Big news attracts news surfers and repeaters. If Ozil had wanted to go to Utd he'd be at Utd now. Unless Utd were too dumb to snap this player up in which case they are in an even worse state than previously thought - either because they don't have the cash or more likely because they swapped a legend for a mediocre manager who's out of his depth. Or both. This is the numero uno transfer of the summer, nothing else comes close in this country. By the sound of it, Ozil wanted to stay at Madrid. So if we're second choice then so is everyone else. And if we're second choice to Utd then great news, long time since we were able to outgun a money club in the transfer window. And great to see one of our rivals struggling so badly to get it together, long may it last.
