You also forgot to mention running down blind alleys, giving away posession, falling over ALOT! As I say on his day he is brilliant but those days are few and far between.

We don't sign players to cover injuries though. And Diaby coming back is like 3 or 4 new signings.Quote:
It's thought that Arsenal turned to Sahin after being told Jack Wilshere will not be fit for the start of the season.
Signing Sahin as cover would be unusually belt and braces for us, unless Jack is more seriously borked than advertised.
rumours are that we have signed cazorla for around 12 million. and according the a malaga based journalist, we havnt finished shopping at malaga either
Also, time for the Cazorla stuff to go in his thread now I reckon. Although it's slightly concerning this is now the very recently updated main article...

He's creative with his WUMmery.

Arsenal are considering Celtic's Victor Wanyama, 21, as a replacement for Alex Song, if Barcelona make a substantial bid for the 24-year-old.
Full story: Daily Mail
We cant afford to let Song go. Massive player for us.
I disagree, he's the weak link in our side. He's a good player, no question of his ability, but he is NOT a DM. The sooner Wenger stops treating him as such, the better, and the way wenger has been this offseason personnel wise, i do have faith in him to rectify this soon.
The guy has a lot of massive qualities and impressive skill for his size. He just needs a bit of discipline in his movement i think. Plus he is not afraid to stick it to the opposition and show them who is boss, we need players that can do that. He is an intimidating figure.
Unless we bring in a quality replacement i dont think there is anyone in our current squad that could cover his loss.
I do get what youre saying but same disagree a tadge. The reason is we are not in the moneybags position that some of the others are and our building requires more time. I know we have made mistakes with the way we build ie Wenger Youth etc but I do think we are showing encouraging signs.
Last year seemed like a glut of panic buys but they stopped a rot and even though we won nothing and finished far behind we stablised as a unit IMO
Wenger first two buys and Carzorla are strong intent buys, future buildong in mind, Sahin is a quality player who we cannot spunk a shed load on at this stage but could next year as we cant buy everyone in one go like the others.
Benny was never going to get the buy after option but we should ne looking at that with Sahin, someone said 20 mil, a good season with us and we will nab him for half that.
He is also only 23 or so whicj makes even more sense. I say loans for players who we can realistically see playing for us after the spell is over, makes sense as long as we have the buy option in place.
I say bring him in if it doesnt pan out. . .move on

Wigan have beaten West Ham to the signing of Real Mallorca defender Ivan Ramis for an undisclosed fee.
The Hammers agreed a fee with the Spanish club for the 27-year-old at the weekend but he has instead joined their Premier League rivals Wigan on a three-year deal.
Ramis was wanted by Celtic in 2010 but a deal was never completed.
He becomes the Latics' second summer signing after the arrival of Aberdeen midfielder Fraser Fyvie.
West Ham :haha:.

Yeah Song is certainly not the weak link. Isn't it about time we stopped thinking about him as a DM anyway? For most of last season he was our only creative outlet in midfield. Of course he's still capable of doing the dirty work in midfield as well, so for my money that makes him an important member of the team.
Only thing I would say is that he needs some competition because he is prone to the odd brain fart.
He's turning into a decent box to box player. We need that in the squad. If Diaby was anywhere near Song's level we'd all be hailing him as the new Vieira. Would love to see Diaby and Song in the same squad this season because they're physically strong with good technical ability. We've missed having strength in the middle and if we have a trio of Song, Arteta and Diaby then we're on our way to having the right balance.
Okay chaps. Now that SC is sorted and Sahin likely also. What about the back 4? and a DM. Who was it that once said "Arsene Wenger is a great manager, but he only ever buys attacking players" Yeah that`s right: Alex Ferguson. Come on Wenger.......just do it. Mvilla or Wayannma plus a LB pls as Gibbs is unreliable in more ways than one and Santos is a midfielder not LB.
Oh and hurry up getting rid of the crap clogging up the squad numbers.
It's quite amazing really.
All season long AW and the players were going on about defending as a team, which for the most part, they did. More poorly on some occassions, granted, but mostly pretty well.
Song geos forward, Arteta drops in. Arteta goes forward, song drops in. Ramsey goes box to box. The wingers or fullbacks squeeze in.
Everything we're trying to do, is based on players being able to adjust to a situation. Not someone being in that position already.
Think Sahin might be available for a permanent move. You'd think a lot more clubs will be interested now though.

Sahin is an excellent player, inshallah we'll sign him. Our midfield options with him as the deep lying playmaker will be fantastic.
All i want for Eid is Sahin!
exciting times ahead lads, COYG
