We can't dick about any longer now. We need to move on and strengthen. I'd be content with sticking with Giroud and saving our money for a top striker next season providing we buy top top quality in midfield, defence and GK.

Point is, even the worst scum like Tevez can be brought to heel. We're all assuming Suarez is a scumbag in every respect, maybe he'd want to play. I doubt Judas would have wanted to sit on the bench had we forced him to do what honourable human beings do.

But at the time no one knew what the clause was, what it meant and even at what price it was. Now that is much clearer, after Taylor's comments especially.

Given there has been nothing from either side, or from Suarez himself in the intervening period, it looks fairly likely no talks took place. Officially, anyway.

The clause allowed us to speak to him, Liverpool couldn't do anything about it. Or so the story goes.

It took them until April to bring Tevez back! And that was when the club's title aspirations looked to be down the swanny (after the defeat to us).

At least that statement has come with 25 days left in the window rather than the last day. Plenty of time for us to buy some other players, no excuses. Stanley must be pissed.
