Bollocks to them. We all know what happened today.
I can take being beaten by a better side on the day but that’s not what happened.
The officials quite simply changed the result.
Either incompetence or corruption
It's actually VAR not the referee, well in the case of the penalties. What i don't understand is why our penalty appeal was deemed not worthy of VAR inspection yet there one was? Don't forget, VAR called the penalty not the referee. In the Odegaard incident, VAR ignored it which to me is very questionable....and i have seen it happen countless times this season. VAR is there to protect referees and is not actually accountable for when they ignore certain incidents in games....corrupt at times? Maybe....
I did feel the ref was a bit card happy towards us, I honestly don't think that second yellow of Gabriel's was worthy of a yellow, especially given Rodri was basically given the whole game to kick our players off the park without a single yellow card brandished to him.
Seriously, if a ref trots over to the screen and sees what we all saw with realistic eyes, he sees Xhaka holding his shirt, which is of no impedence to his decision to go arse over tit. The leg which Silver was looking to dive over is removed, and he has already made the decision to go over.
If you’re a ref and you don’t like being conned, you see it for what it is, and be a man about it. Book the cunt for simulation.
If you’re Xhaka, you get hauled off for being a twat, and you never play for the club again.
If we’ve going for shirt tugs in the area, then I want to watch how many penalties have been denied this season. Complete bullshit the whole thing.
Actually watched this bollocks as the family was around for new year. Awful game, the gypos looked like they were stuffed with Christmas pud and couldn't be arsed and our lot just aren't very good.
Agree with the argument that VAR is inconsistently applied and therefore just another way for the officials to cheat when they need to. Scandalous to review one incident and ignore the other, but that sort of shit has been happening for decades in various forms. The decisions were correct though. Xhaka clearly, and incredibly stupidly gave the mega cheat a clear opportunity to dive with that unnecessary shirt pull, of course the pen was going to be given when handed on a plate like that. And the second call was never a pen, the attacker put the boot in on the keeper first. Easy decisions, but they still managed to fuck it up by applying VAR so unevenly. Time to scrap that shit now, plainly it hasn't worked.
The two sendings off were the main issue. One that was given but never was, and one that wasn't even mentioned but was stonewall. I thought cheating and diving was going to be cracked down on, but those gypos obviously have a free pass. Horrible bunch of cunts. Diving all over the place. Going down at the slightest touch. But the arabs have cash and the gambling syndicates in Asia need to be fed so giving the ref any opportunity to earn a commission is just dumb. Like Xhaka, Gabriel must know the score. You have to play it smart and both walked into it.
The Rodri sending off though. Why wasn't that a red and why wasn't it even mentioned? Isn't taking your short off a yellow? Or has that been rescinded? And isn't inciting the crowd a yellow? Or is that just for some teams? Two yellows makes a red, unless I've fallen out of touch with the ever changing rules. But not even a mention. We were watching on BT (which cost £27 just to sign up - refund request already in). That horrific non-human Ferdinand was glorifying the gypo cheating. You have to go down, he reckons. When they say "professional" what are they referring to? Professional cheats? When they have the nerve to talk about examples to young kids, what examples would those be? Ferdinand? What a piece of shit that thing is.
That Japanese player is pretty good though. Quite enjoyed watching him play. Seems like an old school defender and he won everything in the air. Martinelli was shite. Had hopes for him way back, but he doesn't have the stamina for 90 minutes. Several times he could have put in an extra 10% to make an extra yard to make himself available, but he shirked it. Disappointing.
Completely disagree about Martinelli.
He did miss the open goal which…yeah, that wasn’t great.
But overall I thought he was outstanding
Only just got around to watching MOTD - got to say i think it's fair enough for Citeh to get that pel, it was a foul, though we ahould have had one too
Xhaka once again proving why he should never wear a red and white shirt again, what an absolute ****
Gabriel's second yellow is a joke though, nothing in it at all
I'm not a Xhakaphobe like you but I agree the shirt pull was silly. It gave the ref all the excuse he needed to give it.
It was a dive though, he went down easier than your mum #brooker.
