That, sums it all up.

Well obviously he was transfered in, but you go on like we have for the last 5 years signed old guys on loan. we all want permanent signings and im sure wenger and the players do too.
problem is getting people who want to move and getting people a reasonable price, we don't want to end up in a Torress/Caroll situation where we are paying to much because we have too.
I agree with you there, and I see what you are saying about Torres etc. Problem is, when players are available, Gazidis and co dont fill me with confidence with their negotiating skills. Man U go out and buy their players with ease, when we enter negotiations, we seem to draw them out, almost to the point that it appears that deal may not go through.

I was moved by the whole emotion of the night, and have watched the goal over and over. Amazing stuff. Ive touched on why the Henry situation, whilst its great having him back, we as a top team in Europe have had to recruit a player on loan from an MLS team. Tottenham play in a shit box stadium and generate less revenue, yet they are able to retain the services of their best players, and attract new ones. On paper, their current squad is better than ours. Given that we finished the season unbeaten only 7/8 years ago, how have we allowed this to happen?
I think the point is that Utd is trying or have tried. AW on the other hand is not even trying to sign players. SAF signed the gay, young and jones. Most of them do not look like setting the world on fire atm but SAF brought in players to improve the squad. AW IMO wouldnt have signed Arteta or Mentos, had we not got that tonking at the hands of Utd.
I don't doubt that we're not as good as Utd at getting things done. But then again, I do agree with AW when he says it's difficult to find the right player, for the right price. I would suspect that Fergie isn't overwhelmed by his goalkeeper thus far, and I would point to the furore surrounding us when Almunia was clearly shit. We didn't go and buy someone for the sake of it, and let Ches do his stuff. That's worked out quite nicely.
Like I've said in countless other threads. AW gets some things wrong, but he does get some things right too. The business of running a top footbal club is far more difficult in current times due to the inequality in the market. We've got to push on, no doubt, and we've fucked up big time, but we're clawing our way back, and I'm relatively happy with the balance of the team for the forst time in ages.
Hopefully we'll add to that over coming weeks...that said, Wilshire, and our fullbacks returning will be massive for us.
I agree they are not setting the world on fire but did SAF try? Yes. As for saying that AW didnt try to sign players being a silly statement... remember 'waiting period'? Like LDG mentioned earlier, AW has done a few things right (not a lot IMO) but his faults recently far outweighs the rights! AW couldve settled the Nasri and Cesc issue long back and had Per, Mentos, Arteta in the pre-season games. What we had instead were panic buys that didnt gel till October! And this kind of transfer behavior by Arsene is not only this season, it is also similar to the last 5 seasons.. kind of the reason why top players like TH14, Cesc, Nasri and other players feel disillusioned about winning anything with us!
Agree with most of the stuff on your posts. While Szczesny has been immense, the fact cannot be denied that we needed a GK when Almunia was letting in goals left right and center. Had we signed a decent keeper then, who knows what we couldve won or acheived... Szczesny doing well now does not take away the mistakes AW has made and continues to make to this day..
Cant agree more about JW and Sagna. Think they are truly world class and will add a lot to the team!
Whilst I agree, I can't help think AW is still making more mistakes than corrections to this day, mainly around investment though.
How can we rely on Gibbs at left back? He is always injured and never able to string more than a few games together. Sant's is out for the season.
Signing Henry is great and all that, but in 2 months he's gone and we are back to having only 1 player who can score
No we don't really need another playmaker, we create enough chances. We still have the same issues though, lack of strength up front and at the back. Wenger is supposed to be a top manager, Arsenal are supposed to have one of the best scouting systems going; how hard is it to find another striker who can score? And another full back who can defend?
Sants is not out for the season no where near that he will be back in a few weeks.
How hard is it to fine a stiker who can score goals, not hard but this time of year and this year most don't want to move because of the Euro's. Lets be real we can't afford the likes of Ageuro etc because of their wages, so after them who is their that is world class, not many.
as for a Fullback i do agree wenger should be buying another 1.
Wenger has done alot of wrong things too right, no one is saying he is innocent far from it, it really gets on my goat why it takes him and the club an age to tie up player contracts/transfers in.
Ok so wenger comes out with silly nonsense too which he needs to stop and start being straight with the fans, we deserve that much at least. Problem with the club is from top to bottom it still needs a clensing imo.
even if wenger went tommrow with the board still there not much will change, once they go things change.
He's supposed to be back in March. Which means April.
