Smily Putin
And Putin is there for the trophy presentation too.
He's a dick but you don't see the President/Prime Minister do it for many other racces.
Putin will want the Russian anthem played now.
Me too tbf.
Did Hamilton soak Putin?
:haha:
Great racing from Perez, Botas and Raikonnen. Makes up for the ongoing Mercedes farce.
Mercedes, Red Bull and Ferrari beforehand. The last champion who had to work for it was Raikonnen in 2007 when he won in the second best car. Every so-called champion since has been a passenger in a car significantly superior to the opposition and that's because the twats running the sport keep changing the damn rules. Just as Ferrari are Williams are getting in touching distance of Mercedes they'll change the rules again next year. They say the rule changes are to make the sport more competitive but plainly that can't be true. There must be other reasons for the stupidity. Obviously the drivers want to race, as we saw today and on other occasions, but half the time they are in fuel saving mode or trying to tease a set of tyres designed to fail. It's ludicrous. And it's a shame to see Vettel and Hamilton up there talking about emulating Senna, because they have done no such thing. They are driving family saloons by comparison. Today Hamilton was a second a lap faster while saving fuel! If you are going to make rule changes to make the cars more competitive then let them have as much fuel and as many tyres as they want, let them test all year round. These are some immediate and sensible changes that could be made next race. It's insane listening to Williams on the radio giving the driver the go ahead to race flat out in "Mode 1". F1 should be Mode 1 all the time, that's the bloody point.
It's never been that.
Sure it has, except back when they had racing it wasn't rules that limited the cars but the ability of the driver and mechanical reliability. The designers and mechanics had to balance the cutting edge with reliability. In the end it got silly with the Renaults so adjustments had to be made, but it has been a stream of bullshit ever since. All of this is supposedly so more cars can get on the grid. So how has that worked out? The smaller teams have all come and gone and never got a look in, the money is still rigged. But rather than change their cosy financial deals they've fucked the action on the track. It was the stupidest set of rule changes ever that gave Mercedes a huge advantage. Fine, they reacted to the changes better, but how exactly were Caterham or Force India, for example, ever going to compete? That greedy bastard Ecclestone and the gang of thieves who run the sport along with the big teams are the real cause of the non-competitiveness. That's where rule changes should be focused but the chief beneficiaries are the ones who make the rules. Take the handcuffs off the teams and see what they can really do. Mercedes might still win, or some other team might come to the fore, but at least it would give the rest a realistic chance of catching up. Marussia would be fucked I suppose, but they are still trailing around a lap behind even with all these stupid rules. Greed is the problem as usual and it's producing default champions who only have to turn up to be crowned.
I used to think along the same lines but it's not just about the drivers. It's about building the best and fastest car also. Certain rules suck but I think the main problem we're seeing now is poorly prepared teams for hybrid engines. I think Lewis is a talented driver and likes to race. Wet conditions he's a beast. Can't take that away from him. I also like some of the other drivers but the cars are really shit. Button and Alonso have been taken out of the equation because of the complete fuck up at McLaren but I rate both drivers. Bottas and Riccardo are pretty good too. Hopefully, the teams get their shit together to match the talent.
Had a quick check - no luck, Ecclestone is still alive. Will check again tomorrow and let you know if the situation has improved.

It's a bit wet in Texas.
Finally the Honda comes into it's own.

There's no way they're qualifying today.
They should do it on toy cars.
They're going to give it another hour and a quarter? I don't think I can take watching these trucks driving about.
I don't know why I'm still watching this.
Great quali session.
What a waste of time.
Qualifying will actually be on tomorrow.
Heard it was raining so didn't bother with any of it. Knew the poofters would think it was too dangerous. Hopefully it will be sunshine and pixies and fairies and fluffy bunnies tomorrow and it will be safe to go fuel conserving.
In fairness, it was torrential. No chance of any driving really.
Americans are weird.
Have whisky and ciggies, plenty of snacks, on a high speed broadband connection watching the build up to F1 qualifying and build up to manc derby. Technology + pirate streams + sport
Sometimes life is good.
They've been forced into proper F1 racing
Lewis 2 seconds faster in the rain. First time he's proved his credentials this season. Credit to him.
Stupid second rate driver has already crashed - so red flag
JUST CARRY ON!
Ridiculously good driving by Riccardio. Hamilton responding.
Vettel just pubs his way in to Q2.
Button's side slide :haha:
We underestimate how good these drivers actually are. Me and you would be in the lap of the gods.
Drivers having to work. It's a scandal!
Surprising Alonso and Button haven't done better. That car must be really crap.
Kvyat has wet his knickers - want's out. What would these guys have been like in 1960?
Hamilton had a spin at the end of Q2.
Button bottling it. "We don't want to be out, we don't want to be out, just give me my £10mill". Sad.
Stop
Charlie Whiting is a homosexual. I think this is a safe assumption.
Do you think you could limit your homophobia to a single thread?
Cheers.
You said "your"
Button - "King of the Wet"
It's wet! Stop the race!
