Reports out of Chelsea are saying Demba Ba talks broke down because he wanted over £120k a week.
If I was going to leave a club where I'm loved and playing reguarly, for Chelsea, I'd want some serious money as well.
It's small change to Chelsea but puts things in perspective. Reports saying he wanted £83k a week at Newcastle but they won't offer that.
How much would he want if he came to us? £90-£100k maybe?
I really don't like how inflated footballers wages are! No one needs that much money a week! But as a Football club we need to realise the only way we're gonna attract players and keep the ones we already have is to pay the market rate, or it will only start to compound are descent into a very average team.

Rather have Villa
I hear ya. But like I say, we don't know the figures. There must be some reason the deal is not being done. I'm sure we're not that daft!
Without knowing what theo's priorities are we can't speculate. He said is was about playing up top. He's got that. So it's now money. And I assume we've offered a decent package...it can't be that low surely. If it was taking the piss, why would they still be negotiating with the club?
He's already gone, IMO, and unless we offer 125k + which is what he'll get as a free agent, we're fucked.
And this time, it's not exactly our fault. As i understand a substantial offer was on the table some time ago.
They've played the game, and won (if they think money is the be all and end all).
We'll just find someone else to plug the gap. We always do...
Walcott is not worth 100k pw, not in real terms anyway. In the psuedo reality world of Chelsea et al maybe but even they are beginning to realise that the numbers no longer add up. Moreover, why should he be the highest earner at the club?. Is he now our Marquee player that defines the club as Henry did?. I dont think so. I think Wilshire is being groomed for that role. We are in familiar territory as this is what Adebayor also did and he was a real jackass and went about it like a mongrel until he was sold. I dont see Wally pulling the same strop but I have no doubt that its all about money. There is no way Wenger will pencil a contract that stipulates a striker role for him so what is the point if it cant be put in writing. This all about money, plain and simple. We have been foolish with what we pay players for so long. Even as recently as last week and the rubbish contracts dished out to Ramsey, Gibbs and co. If Walcott wants to leave then so be it, he is replaceable.
Replaceable by who?
Anyone we buy, we have to pay the amount of wages we refuse to pay Theo and we have no one in the squad who can
That's what I don't get. If we're going to get someone in as good (or better than) Theo then we'll need to pay top dollar anyway. Better the devil know and all that.
