That said, the headline is misleading. It is a good deal, but it makes things sound better than they are.
For accounting purposes, even if the £300m were paid up front, only £30m would be counted as income for this year. Ignoring all other income/expenditure, if Chelsea were to use this income to buy £100m worth of players, that would equate to an in year loss of £70m rather than a profit of £200m.
Well the way I see it £300m over 10 years is more or less the same as ours with Puma only we get 150m over 5 years so we both get 30m a year...
