Responding with "it's an excuse" every time someone points out someone failing to their job in a professionsal manner is also overused.

The ref doesnt stop us taking shots. If we were 2-0 up wed still be winning this game. When youre away you dont expect anything from refs. Its an 11th commandment. Didnt you know. We stink away from home... is it all down to the refs?

Expecting anything resembling competence from referees is probably futile, yes. Just as expecting comprehension from this exchange was.
