40 runs in five overs is pretty good for 20/20 cricket let alone Test
From 8 runs an over in first five overs to three runs an over in the next five. 55-0, after ten overs
130-1 at lunch. Ticking along nicely.
Stuart Broad going to retire at the end of this test
If we can win and level the series that would be an appropriate end to an excellent career
Only McGrath and Warne have more Ashes wickets
Australia reached 126 without loss
We could be fucked
Australia looked extraordinarily comfortable. Broad's (deserved let's be fair) testimonial aside the rain may actually do England a favour because they look bereft of ideas.

Hope springs eternal, got Smith, Head and Marsh out and they’ve still got to get 110 runs. That said their tail was strong in the first innings
Stuart Broad gets the final wicket, to win us the match at the Oval and draw the series. Australia retain the Ashes and lot of frustration over what might have been, but one of the best series’ in my lifetime gets the Hollywood conclusion (of sorts)
So pleased for Broad - maybe my favourite ever England player. Fairytale ending for him and excellent that this England team goes out on a high. For me we were undercooked for the 1st 2 tests and I like the way after that that we tempered Bazball with a little judiciousness. Batting line up now looking more positive than it has done for years. Just need to keep our young bowlers fit now.
Anderson's time is done, sadly. Would have loved to see him finish on a high also.
Broad and Anderson are both legends - tbh once they're gone England's bowlers are just a bunch of chuckers

Good luck with that!
With selling tickets for the women's game at the same price as men.
There's no way that would work in football.
I don't care, I'm not in to cricket, but it seems like a strange decision unless there's evidence that demand is the same in the men's and women's game. Is there?
Women’s sport is progessing fast in the sports they weren’t previously acknowledged in or funded for.
As Gooners I think we should be proud that a May afternoon on bank holiday weekend was usually Arsenal winning the FA Cup. BBC2, no fans in the ground, and sometimes poor levels of play.
But nonetheless, Womens football (to a degree) is because of that, and because of our club holding it up high.
What’s not to like? It’s still a game of football, and if it keeps attracting a wider fanbase and roots interest, it’s going to be just as exciting to watch in ten years. Good on em.
That said, lets not have it whirlpool into kissing territory every time. Thats not sport, thats bollox
How dead must that wicket be in Pakistan. The Pakistanis put on 556 and you think “yeah that’s England done with”. Nope…England just put on a fourth wicket stand of 400, with Root and Brook putting on over 200 each.
Would be hilarious if we get a 200 odd first innings lead, put the Pakistanis back in and get an innings victory.
You’d most likely be looking at a draw. On a surface like this, it does rather diminish Test Cricket (although for me it’s still by far the most superior form of the game)
Currently 807-7 :haha:
Declared on 823-7
Brook gets 300. I can only think of Brian Lara scoring more than that in a single test match innings
Ridiculous sport.
Pakistan put on a bit of resistance but ultimately fall for an innings and 47 runs
And the first time in history a side that has scored over 500 in first innings to lose by an innings.
I was going to say that surely has to be a record.
England revrting to type lost the 2nd test by 152 runs after being set 297 collapsed to 144 all out.
Australia vs India in Perth
Australia bounced the Indians out for 150, only for India to dismiss them for even cheaper at 100
India then post 487 for the loss of 6 in their second innings, declare and have taken three Aussie wickets for 12 runs
End of Day three, I highly doubt there will be a Day five
India famously always struggled down under, but have won the last two test series there and likely to go 1-0 in front in the third in six years
No Day 5
India win by 295 runs
Not especially fond of the Indian cricket team but prefer them to the Aussies
England playing Zimbabwe in a “test” match
I say test in quotation marks, because a Test match is 5 days…this is 4 days (County Cricket matches are 4 days, but they aren’t considered test matches)
Everything being done to dilute the game because we live in a society of short attention spans and instant gratification
England have put on 164 for the loss of no wickets
Glad this is only a one off test
Not really kept in contact with the cricket
But why the fuck did we put India into bat after winning the toss?
My daughter is dating the captain of some county club, can't ever fucking remember because I hate cricket. But I'm forced to love it when they come around for dinner. Oh, tell me again how you stood around for 3 days and achieved a glorious triumph. It's the stupidest fucking sport ever - but I also appreciate what my uncle used to say, who was so into it. He was so fucking invested, knew what was going to happen way before it happened. And spent days staring at the TV screen, waiting for lunch to end. WHAT SPORT HAS LUNCH????? But when he spoke about it I realised he could see things I can't, and it reinforced the notion that each has to their own. I like watching chess. That's a bit fucking boring right? But when you get into it...
I also liked playing rounders at school. Mainly because the girls wore short skirts. So I would always volunteer for first base so I could be on the ground looking up when they tried to slide home. Tactics, dedication.
Not just Lunch but Tea.
See I’m the person who doesn’t like the 20/20 stuff…for me it takes the skill away from the game.
Don’t take this the wrong way but you’re the last person I’d think would pretend to like something he didn’t in order to make nice with your daughter’s boyfriend. Isn’t it an unwritten rule that you’re meant to instantly despise any man your daughter dates? Giving him the eyes that lets him know you’ll go Barry the Baptist on him if he doesn’t consistently behave like a gentleman?
England on 98 without loss, chasing 371
At this point, all results are still possible
Bowling has overall not been fantastic barring great individual spells from Jasprit Bumrah for India and Josh Tongue for England
Have to admit I feared the worst after the first day, but this has been a combative and competitive performance from England with the bat
246-2
England require 125 runs with 8 wickets remaining
Barring a collapse or a turn in the weather, you’d have to say they should win
