Not sure what you are on about really. I barely comment on Arsenal any more. The odd few occasions I do usually follow the odd few occasions I watch a game or part of a game. The same as anyone else here I sometimes share my opinion, I haven't seen a prerequisite to share such opinions in a joyful manner. When the team plays well I'll say so. When they play poorly I'll say so. If a player has performed well I might point it out. When they are shite I call them shite. It's a simple formula, Because the team has scarcely played well in over a decade it might appear I limit myself to reporting poor performance, but short of distorting the reality I am bound by it if I want to remain accurate.

I joined the forum while being a supporter of the club. As I have stated on several occasions, that support faded and eventually dispersed as the club and football in general transformed into an inferior product focused entirely on commercial interests. During that time other threads related to politics and current affairs became more active, mainly due to so many being struck down with TDS, and then the Covid fiasco. That's where I have mainly posted.

It seems, prompted by a strange individual's tendency to mention me across the forum, you feel I should stop posting because I have nothing positive to report on the odd occasion I speak about an inferior football club or the strange individual in question. You are entitled to your opinion but it's one I won't be taking onboard at this time. I would suspect we all post here as some form of distraction from activities that are likely more useful in the grand scheme. I sometimes scan with no intention of posting. But something I see might perk my interest. It's not a hard and fast plan. As for here as opposed to real life, I have no doubt whatsoever the people here are very much similar in real life, perhaps not in the language they deploy, but certainly in character. For example, it would be too difficult for certain people to play at being so thoroughly ignorant or deluded over such a prolonged period. The act would slip.

Anyway, that's a strange post, more about you than me but thanks all the same.

I still get the impression that it’s more out of habit than enjoyment.

There’s no Pre-requisite of any kind, but I find as I get older I try and keep the things I derive nothing productive from to an absolute bare minimum.

There's another way of looking at it which has the benefit of relevance and context. See what the little shit has managed to "provoke" in a match thread? Maybe another thing to wonder about? While he sits back and watches you mirror me keystroke by keystroke, it might be said I'm not the only one so provoked. I guess you must find it productive, at a bare minimum.

Of course our friend will have moved on to planting his next little smiley or "just leaving this here" contribution that so stirs the "debate", fine upstanding fellow that he is.

If it was a one-off occurrence it'd be a stretch to call him out for his repetitive behaviour. But we only have to reach as far as the match thread from last week. We can extend at leisure back through his own sustained habit. It's all a joke, as I'm sure you know. Except when others do it. Indeed, our champion of sincerity often tells us how we "all know" posters that fell under his ban hammer were shameless WUMs.

New or insightful? I don't know, others would have to decide that. But certainly an alternative to the steady beat plus a reminder to remember the past and compare it to the present.
