Its the one series all the players who play for england and austrailia want to win more then any other. therefore form goes out of the window to a certain extent. like a football derby, form is irrelevant because everyone raises their game.Quote:

If some of these Ashes test matches (e.g. the last one and one before) seemed a little close, that is a little worrying for England. A couple of years ago, England's top 3 in the first innings kept laying the platform which got them to the top; '200-1' type starts which they would then go on to convert. Now with a lot of key players getting on a bit, we will see a decline quickly unless they find some young players that can quickly become prolific scorers. Seen it happen recently with a lot of countries.
