Fabianski is playing out of his skin to put himself in the shop window. Tbf to him he has stepped up and if he can consistently perform like he has done he deserves to be a first choice keeper somewhere instead of just a reserve. His performance against Liverpool was probably the best I've seen from a GK this season.
Sentimentality aside I do think he has earned himself the right to keep his place. If Chesney hadn't been so consistent this season there would be a good case for Fab to be given a run in the first team.
The "new" Arsenalif you like, wont fuck up a big opportunity like this. Post bayern last season, the team has matures, improved in defense and have the right attitude in most games. I know people will bring up the two cup defeats last season and that highbury semi (my last game at highbury) but i just feel a lot moe confident this time around knowing these guys really want to win something and have the quality and desire to go far. We've beaten 3 very good sides alreasdy this season and also avoided a potential banana skin in Coventry so there's every reason to feel confident.
I agree. The Merts/Kos partnership has given us a lot more steel at the back.
And as for us getting lucky in the Cup this year, its not our fault we drew Spurs.
I think we definitely have a more mature side than 2011, so there's every reason to feel confident. It would be a disaster and pretty much undo all the progress we've made this year if we didn't win it now. Of course with us you never know what the hell could happen even with the most straight-forward looking tasks, but we've dispatched most of the lesser sides without too much hassle this season so I fancy us to finally end the drought.
The must win of all must wins.
They say that in order for us to go up a level, we need to show consistancy and win a trophy, and this season is the perfect scenario for us. We've come far since that 0-2 win at Bayern and have picked up more points than most and the FA cup would be the springboard for us to push on.
FA cup + 3rd would represent a good season and one we can definitely build on next season.
I don't think we'll mess this one up. The team is experienced and so far we've responded to set backs even if we've had to grind out a results. They'll be up for both games. It's not the biggest trophy in football but Wenger can respond to Jose's 'Specialist in Failure' jab.
