From the guardian, loving the digg at twitchy in there.Quote:
Having shown up selected members of football writing's finest for the know-nothing buffoons they are last night, Arsčne Wenger will continue to go about the private business of strengthening his Arsenal squad ahead of the Champions League campaign quite a few two-faced hacks hoped his team wouldn't qualify for, if only because it would make for a better story.
Despite having spent 15 years in England, Wenger still hasn't learned or – one would hope – doesn't care that the best way for football managers working in north London to get the press on side is to offer them garrulous cheeky-chappy soundbites while feeding them a steady drip-feed of information of questionable veracity. That way, you can spend money hand over fist (while simultaneously turning your nose up at signing Luis Suárez) only to see your team slump to extraordinary levels of goal-shy mediocrity without fear of media criticism of any kind.
Anyway, according to the Daily Mail, Wenger has had a loan deal for Real Madrid striker Ricky Kaká rejected, and must now bide his time to see if the Spanish side change their minds or agree to sell the Brazilian who they continue to sublet from Jesus. Arsenal also remain interested in taking centre-back Raúl Albiol from Real, playmaker Eden Hazard from Lille and striker Mauro Zárate from Lazio.

I think Miyachi is going to go one of two ways, he's either going to blow them away with his pace and the surprise factor of being a winger in an Arsenal shirt or they're gonna have his number from the off and he's ineffectual until he learns how it's played, like Ronaldo did.
Also fwiw, I think Campbell is built for playing for us, in the Prem, I can see him getting an impressive strike ratio in whatever games he gets.
could you imagine if we signed Hazard, Albiol, M'Vila, Kakaand Zarate?
I think i would have to send Wenger a bag of my cum if that happened
Fair to say M'V would be an excellent introduction would provide the midfield with the kind of midfield we need talented and tough. . .Frimpong would be a very able back up and poster boy for AWs youth policy , his time will come and in my view he is miles ahead of Diaby and Denilson who we dont really need
FYI Miyaichi had a full 90 minutes with the reserve on Tuesday, cant help but think Wenger will use him against Manc. He scored as well, decent start for the kid. :coffee:
Links with Arteta increasing.Quote:
10.44 Arsenal want Mikel Arteta and would be willing to pay 10 million euros for the Spaniard, say AS.
Then again they happen every year.
am not racist btw.
As long as we replace those who have gone and add a few this will probably be our best summer in terms of transfers in the last 6-7 years. Would like us to buy an LB too (Baines would be perfect) but can't see that happening.
Gervinho for Nasri, M'Vila for Fabregas (with a change in style of play ofc), Cahill for Squillaci and a decent striker (hopefully Sow) would definitely boost the squad.
We've got Oxlade-Chamberlain, Campbell and Miyaichi as impact players who I think can make a difference (more than Chamakh / Vela at least) and the emergence of Frimpong and Jenkinson as solid players hopefully keeps.

With just 3 more signings, that looks a strong starting XI. Moreover, we'll have Koscielny, Djourou, Ramsey, Chamberlain, Campbell, Rosicky, Diaby, Frimpong, Jenkinson to rely on from the bench, which isn't ideal but isn't as bad as it could be. If we get another striker as well, then the squad looks quite good on the whole.
I really don't see why Wenger doesn't sign the 3 players I've listed. We've got A LOT of money from the sales of Cesc and Nasri, and even if Everton and Bolton are asking for a lot of money, now is not the time for penny pinching, especially with the window about to close and with us having such a transfer surplus this summer. We should swallow our pride, overpay for the two players and get a squad capable of competing with the best this season.
And that's the problem, Wenger thinks we're secure in areas of the squad where it's obvious that we're weak. Gibbs is extremely injury prone and Traore doesn't know how to defend (which explains why he didn't start yesterday) How can anyone think this position doesn't need strengthening???!?!
another worry, i believe, is that getting through last nite and playing fairly well, maybe that will convince wenger that his squad is fine and he doesnt really need to strengthen!
To be fair to Wenger, Jenkinson looks solid at RB (even if we have to move Sagna to LB) so if we sign someone like Cahill he'll see us as having Sagna, Vermaelen, Traore and Gibbs for the position.
Our fullbacks have been fine this season, most of their chances came from the unstable midfield and the CBs not being settled (Djourou constantly losing his marker).
If we got a beast of a striker reckon we could up goals from set pieces and crosses too cos Jenkinson's crossing is top notch.
Also no loan players please, don't want to get someone on loan only for them to perform really well and then for us to see them move somewhere else at the end of the loan period.
I rather think the fact that he's only just come back from injury had a big part in it as well, although Jenko/Sagna is probably better defensively for an away game; I thought Traore looked pretty solid in pre-season and with Sagna proving competent there and Vermaelen as an option, I can see why we're not investing there.
I'd still like Baines though.
Wenger's deluded if he thinks we should read so much into last night's performance. We could see defensively we still need reinforcements, because although the fullbacks looked good, Djourou was extremely uncomfortable and was responsible for losing Di Natale for their goal. At the moment, I only trust Vermaelen out of all our central defenders, and we can't go into the season with only one reliable centre half.
Last night Di Natale gave us all sorts of problems in the 1st half, we just couldn't keep him quiet he was getting free outside the box, free in the box and could have got a hattrick.
Gotta say the marking was poor considering he was such a danger. We need a quality CB for sure.
We could have done worse than snap him up to be honest, he's almost 34 (which is the only downside), but he was very impressive.
