But one was in the Vietnamese League, the other in the Greek Super League. Relative to most of the big European leagues they're very low profile so while both players deserve condemnation and lengthy bans, neither are hugely in the public eye so it's never going to be a huge worldwide story.

Suarez is the star player for a side who nearly won the EPL last year, a league watched widely throughout the world. He's widely rated as one of the best players in the world right now and in a World Cup game - a tournament watched worldwide - the silly sod goes and bites an opposition player. And it's the 3rd time the crazy bastard has done it in his career. Obviously it's going to attract a lot of press attention and condemnation.

So what point are you actually trying to make?

The circus is connected to the occasion and the player, not the actual incident. "He should be banned forever!" Why? Because of who he is and where he did it, not because of what he did. In other words, fuck blind and proportional justice, let's get a lynch mob formed. It's laughable how these conditioned emotional responses can be so easily elicited. Jump, but how high? How should we fuck off, messiah?

Of course he shouldn't be banned forever, he shouldn't even get a lengthy ban because I bet there's fuck all in the rules that warrant it. The proper place to deal with this is a court, if the Italian bloke is that bothered. The wise heads were going on about him last night as if he'd been raped. It was ludicrous but funny as hell too I suppose. I'm looking forward to the psychiatrists chipping in, those loons are always good for a laugh.

Sure thing, you can't go around biting people on a football pitch or anywhere else, there should be sanctions if you do that sort of shit. But if we're so keen to uphold principles in this respect then tell me, how comes Blatter isn't in jail? Why are we missing on that issue? Why is it so easy to get a lynching party together for Suarez's comparatively trivial offence that has "shamed" the World Cup when the bastards who have fundamentally corrupted it on almost every level are being wined, dined and bribed? Why don't we just shut up about the trivial stuff if we don't have the balls to mention the important stuff? Answer is obvious but it's always worth asking the question.
