Whenever they have a crisis in managment it always becomes clear that it's actually the old boys running the show behind the scenes.

There's nothing wrong with having experienced players around the place, god knows we've needed some older heads in recent years, but the problem is the strength of the clamour to play them, these guys actually believe their own hype as well.
They can only be managed by a proper big name or a big personality. Doesn't necessarily have to be a good manager either. If Maradona was named Chelsea manager tomorrow, they'd listen to him. Obviously it's a more complicated situation than that with Terry, Lampard, Cashley, Essien because they're actually getting on a bit now and in clear decline. But the fact that AVB has decided not to go down the Mourinho route with the bullish bravado, it has gone a little against him. That, and maybe the fact that - despite everyone wanting him to be a decent manager because he seems like an alright guy - he's very naive with his tactics. Going all out against Arsenal? WTF. There is already a set-routine to beat us - no need to be a hero.
And they take that shite into the England sqaud too, this is why England will also never move forward when no one is scared to drop then old guard, not even arry will if he takes the job. This is why Other teams in other nations do well because they are ready to take them risk when needed.
