If Vardy had have joined Arsenal, would Wenger still have signed Asano ?
Wenger will now say that if he signed another striker, where would he play them all when Welbeck is back.
Asano IS our new striker, forget anybody else.

Dt
Hopefully this will be our only striker.
Wenger has said, "this is a player for the future." Sometimes he speaks gobbledygook, other times he's easy to understand. This player will not be in the team next season. In fact he may never play for us. He's probably been signed to sell shirts. I think we signed some other kid early in the window too. We won't see him either. Whatever happened to that Polish kid who was supposed to be half decent? Did he play in the Euros or has he disappeared into Arsene's Project Yoof?
I'm beginning to think DT is mentally ill.
Don't really get these signings, Japanese players haven't done well here on the whole and to bring some kid over when we already have players in that position who are young is odd, his record is also nothing to ride home about considering he's playing in Japan and 21.
Instead of wasting our time going after these players we should be focussing on improving the 1st team.

Park Chu Young was our number 9? :haha:
I`s have been happier if the kids name was Takumi, not Takuma. Takumi means technician or specialist in Japanese. Learnt this from watching a vid on how Nissan GTR engines are built
GTR. As fast as a Ferrari for a 1/3rd of the price.
Well as we know, Wenger is incompetent when it comes to bringing youth through to the first team. I think the evidence is in on that now. So I would say he's shouldn't be allowed to ever get involved in that aspect. Let somebody who knows what they are doing develop the players that can come through the ranks and Wenger can then play out of position and waste.
Will we sign another striker this summer, someone who will make a positive difference starting in August 2016 ?
He's 21 years old. A bit old to be old for the usual reserve signings that go out on loan. This might be our back striker.
Lyon have also stated that Lacazette will be staying.... maybe we're falling back on signing a first team striker. Giroud as number 1 again and this kid will be back up until Welbeck comes back.
Not sure I'm that bothered tbh. Even if we signed Messi I'd have no faith in us being able to use him effectively. Wenger's the elephant in the room and it looks like he'll be dropping his massive turds for at least another 3 years.
one thing i dont quite understand is why Wenger is signing a player for the future. when one he wont be here, also the replacement manager or managers probably wont want the player either. He is already 21 so if he was some great superstar of the future I would assume he would have more Japanese caps even at this stage.
as he seems to be signing players for the future instead of the here and now... and as he always wants to see projects through to failure I guess this means that he will be signing a new contract after we go on a good run of results around October time.
:tiphat:
Been around NQ but in my excitement to post keep forgetting my password
Read most of this thread now and you are right, Wenger has no intention of using this guy this season. The lad has said himself that he expects to go out on loan. But WUMger must know that the fans expect quality additions before start of season. Did this have to be the second announced signing? I mean it is not like we we locked in a battle for his signature.
Come on AW we need a striker, CB and I would say another CM just because we have got rid of three or could some of the kid step up for those that have gone
Wouldn't surprise me, Wenger still thinks he has 2 months left because he never see's the beginning of the season as the pojnt at which you should have made your main signings, not looking good on the striker front though, slowly but steadily we're missing out on all the decent options, we just don't get our transfers done quickly enough, that's unless he's relatively unknown like Xhaka or some kid noone wants.
We're pretty desperate for a decent striker but seem in no particular hurry. People say they expect us to sign a striker, there's two things you know about Wenger though, one is that he has a record of not doing what people expect him to do (i.e. the logical thing) and that could mean he doesn't sign one or if he does it will be some small time nobody not up to the job.
Is this Asano guy at least a Japanese international, or is he just another nobody who we've pulled out of school or college or off the street?
He's from Hiroshima, they must have some super-heroes by now what with all that radiation so maybe he's one?
#clutchingatstraws
Gigantism!
Let's hope so. One bad tackle and he turns into the Japanese version of Hulk/Hot Shot Hamish!
More like Bert Kwouk
Invisible Boy, I would think.
Reminds me of the Jew we signed, the one with copious amounts of gas in the tank. What was his name?
