Hughes and A. Ayew on, Zaha and Edouard off was it? Didn't pick it up from the radio properly.
Trossard off, Jesus on.
Zinchenko off, Tierney on.
Zaha is still on. Nearly 3-2.
SAKA!!!!
Two goals and an assist from Saka. Mandela might even give him a score higher than 2
White off, Jorginho on.
Martinelli off, Smith Rowe on.
Odegaard curls it wide.
Gabriel off, Kiwior on.
4-1 FT.
8 points ahead.
FT 4-1
8 points clear, pressure on City and 10 more cup finals to go. Plenty of rest time now as well for a lot of the squad too.
Job well done.
Reached the same amount of points we got last season with ten games still to play
When the fixtures came out I mapped out our season and how I thought we would do, and I thought I was being pretty optimistic but we are actually on ten more points than I thought we would be on at this stage of the season
I don’t know what his wife has to do with anything (and in fairness I don’t blame him for being distant she hasn’t aged well for 40 and if he was so inclined he could be getting absurd amounts of Pussy)
But if you’re asking whether I think the players have performed this season despite Arteta rather than because of him it’s the former
We could debate this endlessly again but there’s really no point is there?
I think Arteta clearly has a good tactical brain, but he’s also Galaxy brained with it
And I think the players will to win and the emergence of individual quality has far more to do with the season we are having than someone who lacks any charm or charisma and who delivers quixotic and bizarre rants and calls them team talks. I’m not saying they don’t like him, but I don’t think there’s much closeness there either.
I just feel like breakdancing.
I suppose there isn’t, because we can’t know what another manager would do with this group of players. But a manager surely has to be accountable for results, it’s always them who gets sacked when the team underperforms. So I raise an eyebrow at the thought that the person who trains with them, picks the team and sets the tactics shouldn’t be given credit when the results have been as good as they have this season.
This is his team so he obviously deserves some credit. I don’t believe for a second any player that has come in to the club whilst he’s been coach didn’t do so without his explicit backing. He also picks the team sheet
But Emery for instance was much better at affecting in game change even though a lot of the time he was mopping up his own piss.
I think too many of Arteta’s team selections make it harder for the players (constantly picking Zinchenko for example…I worry about playing with him at Anfield and the Etihad as much as I do playing with Rob Holding). The whole inverted full back thing is Galaxy brained.
I think his tactics have tanked games (certainly Everton and Man United away) and I think the way we were set up against Bournemouth (backing off them) almost cost us the points. Then there is the fact that he hasn’t addressed a clear issue with marking from defensive set pieces….why is Odegaard even back there, he as much chance of finding his man as a blind man reading a Where’s Wally book.
I still don’t like the way players get frozen out of the team and this time around it’s Kieran Tierney, it just seems another player he seems to have fallen out with.
