I wonder how people in Spain feel about Barcelona (relatively) struggling in the league. In England we think of the league as more important here than the CL. And certainly from my perspective, I think the league is always the best measure of how good a team is than cup competitions. But I get the feeling the CL is, by far, more important than La Liga. Or else a bigger deal would be made of Mourinho and Real Madrid's performances this season. As an outsider, the only thing I've read is how Real Madrid always lose to Barcelona in head-to-head meetings and so the league doesn't matter.
I think it has, conveniently, worked out well for both clubs this season. Barcelona will (probably) take the CL and the head-to-head meetings and they'll claim to be the best. And Mourinho will leave claiming he won the league comfortably and so his job is done.
