£40m , who cares, just spend some fucking money
I don't understand, you spend all day lamenting Spuds buying players, you complain about quality being drained, Draxler has it by a bundle and he can score too (13 for Schake last season which is better than any of our forward players that wouldn't be classed as strikers).
The fact he isn't a striker per se should be neither here nor there.
I want us to be competitive. We supposedly have £70mill to spend. We know where we need the players, another AM isn't what we need. So blowing £40mill and risking this being our only signing makes no sense. We couldn't win anything with RvP in the team FFS, so we need more than one quality player. Okay, if that's all we get then fine I'm not going to say no, but we won't be in a position to win anything with that one addition.
The Kalou thing was another Twitter wind-up which made it into several newspapers in a matter of hours.
I think we probably have more than that. Better quality is what we need, regardless of what position it may overload us in or not. Blowing £40 million you say, well what are we going to do with that particular figure that is going to put us in a position to win anything? If it's the Real Madrid players then I concur but it'll take more than that anyway!
We didn't win anything with RVP sure but we had him for the whole season, once. I'm not whining about that but it's true and we don't have a weaker midfield than we did then, I think anyway.
I agree, whatever the Bale fee is get a wheelbarrow and throw it at Madrid for their three cast-offs. We are dealing with one club for three players so we have a tiny chance of pulling it off rather than trying to negotiate with multiple clubs. All fantasy anyway but that's the only route I see left to bumping us up the level we need in the space of one day.
But Wenger has completely lost the plot so expect the craziest and worst outcome. I can't even imagine what he might pull out of his arse as the panic sets in on Monday.

Arsenal have added Schalke midfielder Julian Draxler, 19, and Real Madrid's 31-year-old forward Kaka, who wants to leave the Spanish club, to their transfer target list.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes the Gunners have a better squad than Tottenham and does not rule out bringing striker Nicklas Bendtner, 25, back to the club.

Is he serious?
Same shit different day again.
This thread goes up by loads of pages in the vain hope that we'll sign someone, and all we've had yesterday now was loads of Wenger BS as usual.
@WayneGooney18
Heard twice now that Draxler to AFC is agreed. Fee between £35m and £38m.
Could be why KPB went Shalke today ?
I don't really know really, it's just incredibly frustrating the way the summer has gone for our club, I'm still optimistic that we can pull off some signings , but the later its getting, the more I'm starting to think we're getting no one. It appears that we're waiting until after the derby game, but that leaves roughly 30 hours to get all the deals done. We've had 2 months to make one meaningful signing, 30 hours to get 4-5 ? :getcoat:
We have the money
It's a crazy situation that we are in just now. Holding out until after the spuds game could only be a master stroke if deals are already in place and the only waiting is for the bale deal to go through. But I highly doubt that is the case as having new players in during pre season gives them the chance to bond with the rest of the squad and find thier feet. Now we have to hope any signings we do make hit the ground running. The biggest mistake of the close season was Gazidis coming out and blabbing about how much money we have. That just gave selling clubs the chance to bump the prices up and given Wenger the age old excuse that the market is inflated.
£35m-£38m ?!?!?
Is he really worth that much?
Apparently sky sports news have reported that Chelsea won't make another bid for Rooney.
So if he wants out its us or a club that's hasnt been linked yet.
£40 million doesn't really matter if you have it there that can be spent, or with how much we're earning anyway. If it's who he wants, then just do it, I don't care anymore how much we're spending on it.
Half of that money can be made back in the future if it turns out to be a bust.
So basically the club that hasn't been linked yet
I'm with Maccy on this one. I don't give a fuck if he's 40 million or 60 million, we have he money so let's spend it to get our target instead of letting it rot in the bank. Have some faith in our scouting system for a change.
Yes but all those players in the one club have already all stated basically that they don't want to come here - they'd much rather rot on the bench at RM than get game time here which says it all about our attractiveness at the moment.
who the fuck is dexter? Never heard of him
That could change fast if Bale and Suarez pitch up. World Cup year, they won't want to be on the bench for any significant part of the season and Arsenal are a bigger team than Madrid. The last bit is incorrect, what I meant to say was we've become a ridiculous small time joke of a club. Plus we aren't getting anyone are we? Except Bendtner. It sucks. They have ruined my life.
So my point stands.
He won't spend money on anything, let alone players.Quote:
Arsenal fear Wenger will spend NOTHING on transfers this summer
Gunners have backed away from Cabaye and Guaita with four days left in the window - could freebies Sanogo and Flamini really be it?
Arsene Wenger HAS re-signed Mathieu Flamini - but now Arsenal fear their manager may end up not spending a single penny in transfer fees this summer.
Midfielder Flamini, a Gunner from 2004-08, was without a club after leaving AC Milan has been handed a three-year contract worth £30,000-a-week.
The 29-year-old becomes the north Londoners' second signing of the summer after rookie striker Yaya Sanogo, who also joined as a free agent.
But there is a very real concern now that those are the only two deals Arsenal will end up doing in the summer transfer window after missing out on a succession big-name targets.
That will infuriate fed-up fans and cause major frustration in the boardroom, because Wenger has had a £70m transfer kitty at his disposal.
Arsenal have still not given up on making a dramatic signing before the window shuts on Monday night and are still keeping close tabs on Real Madrid trio Karim Benzema, Angel Di Maria and Mesut Ozil, who all remain possibilities.
But they are understood to have dropped their interest in Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye as they have refused to go anywhere near the Toon's £20m valuation.
That deal is dead in the water unless the Geordies do a dramatic U-turn.
Similarly, Arsenal have been scared off Valencia keeper Vicente Guaita after having a £6m bid turned down and following a heated row between Miroslav Šukic, Valencia's manager, and Wenger when the Frenchman attempted to reverse the call charges one time too many during protracted negotiations.
They could also do with a replacement on the left flank after Lukas Podolski was ruled out for up to 10 weeks with a hamstring injury suffered in midweek against Fenerbahce.
Former Chelsea forward Salomon Kalou, now at Lille, and Manchester United's Nani are possibilities, but Mirror Sport understands no deal is particularly close.
It leaves Arsenal with the very real danger of not spending a penny which would cause a major fans' backlash - especially if they lose at home to big-spending rivals Tottenham in Sunday's North London derby.
Ironically, the Gunners are in line to face one of the summer targets they missed out on, Gonzalo Higuain, after being handed a nightmare Champions League group including his Napoli side, last season's beaten finalists Borussia Dortmund and Marseille.
But despite a growing injury list - as well as Podolski, Mikel Arteta, Thomas Vermaelen and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are all out - Wenger seems reluctant to blow the dust off his cheque-book.
It is causing frustration, as chief executive Ivan Gazidis spoke of the club's "escalation of financial firepower" in June.
Wenger will be under massive pressure from the board and the fans to spend.
It is believed to be particularly keen on Ozil and Di Maria, but there is a growing feeling that he will end up doing nothing further.

Draxler would be a very good buy.
German beast.
So are Gotze and Lamela. Draxler is 19 but he actually has over 100 games for Schalke first team. He is definitely as good if not better than the former two. The big plus is, he also has the physic to play in PL. Definitely an upgrade over Feo, Pod and AOC. :coffee:
Don't recall seeing Draxler play but if 40m is what it's takes then so be it. We've pussy footed around all summer and are now in no position to bargain for players.
Would love to have draxler here, the guy is real quality.
