Guys, even if we miss out signing anyone this month, did you not read the rumours? We are going to be spending BIG in the summer. So if we can just look past this current transfer window and be patient I think everything will be great.

:woohoo:
QPR bid for Chris Samba.
Crooknapp shamelessly talking about how short they are, didn't they sign about 46 players in the summer?
QPR have signed Suk-Young.
If Man City do sign Villa and there is a good chance that may happen, ******* will come out with the usual BS that they have unlimited resources which poor ole Arsenal could not compete. It will prove we cant negotiate a deal for players which is why we are probably not signing any players. That's were David Dein was so vital, he was a wheeler dealer who could sell sand tp the A-rabs.
I think if Villa was looking for a final pay day, he would have sounded out clubs in Russia, China and the Middle East. My point was that if man Cit could convince the Barcelona board to let him go, it just goes to show we were to soft in negotiations, considering these catalans have a history of turning up uninvited and shopping at the Emirates for our best players with longterm contracts. That was my point.
They might outbid us, and they might use their contacts now they've recruited all the ex-barca peops upstairs...but the thing that really gets me is that Arsenal are seen as a really soft touch when it comes to transfer dealings and I think a huge part of that is the way our transfer 'dealers' perform - Gazidis in particular. If I am not mistaken, we did not get the 35million from Cesc transfer in one big chunk - it will be paid out over a series of seasons (with Barca's prize money), we also didn't get the 15million for Alex song in one big chunk - in fact I don't think we've ever got paid in one big chunk - except by Man City! Which brings me to the point - Barca - are not financially secure (but will they be investigated, prob not) yet, we allow them to do deals like this with us. They probably have a good 25-30million outstanding in what they owe to us and yet they can turn around and say 'no' we are not selling Villa to you - because they are under no pressure to wipe out their debt. Who will dare to touch them? Platini? Blatter? they are barca fans.
They should hand Villa over on a plate the amount of times they've screwed us and unsettled our players. But no. I honestly think they are scum.
Having said that...we've bid around 10million - I think Villa by reputation will command higher transfer fee than that esp when you think Song went for 15million. Bid 15million.
It is standard practice to be paid transfer fees over a number of years and with conditions linked to success/appearances/etc.
Getting paid in one lump sum is not the norm.
