Interesting, what makes you think Benzema would be any better at adapting? Neither are particularly strong but both have the skills to survive as part of our team as far as I can see, only difference I'd say was that Higuain had the edge in consistency.
I think Benzema is faster and has more ability (something we need, an Henry of sorts... not as good obviously but that style of player) whereas Higuain is better on the end of moves and can't do as much for himself (a Chamakh of sorts... again obviously not as dire).
Mourinho seems to hate Benzema for some reason so I think he'd let him go for a reasonable amount, of course as we wouldn't pay anything over 5M no chance of us getting either.
With all of Benzema's personal problems, I don't think Wenger would be interested (allegations of sleeping with an under-age prostitute/sending porn to a minor)
Gervinho has a good work rate, and I think would adapt quite quickly in our squad (either up front or on the wing) We need to get a solid defender (Samba/Cahill) A LB and a DM. With those additions, if we sell Denilson/Rosicky/Bendtner/Vela, Wenger should either buy an additional attacking mid/forward or promote from youth. We could win the league for a change then.
I don't see anything really special about Gervinho. Good technique and close control, dribbling is okay but not mind blowing and it looks like he's the type to score all his goals inside the box. I can't see him carving out an opportunity for himself at or trying exploiting small openings to take power shots. When teams sit back he may struggle.
We have to sign him first anyway. If we do, we'll get a better idea of what he can during the Emirates Cup. I'd prefer Benzema though. If he gets his mind right, he has the potential to be deadly.
Benzema would cost too much.
Plus, even at his age, he's an absolutely legendary GHEL. Rooney and Cashley look like amatuers in comparison.
