This. RvP to be sorted one way or the other. By doing so the benchmark of what we offer salary wise will be set, be it that he stays.
A departing Robin will add to the kitty, which translates as 'boardroom members' pockets!

As has been said, we'll sell players to get space and try to resolve the Van Persie issue. These may slow down any transfer activity. Having the Euros on will impact that as well.
I can understand we don't want to pay players who don't play for us like the Bendtner's and Denilsons and Velas. Getting rid of them, which is hopefully possible, will allow for others to take their place and free up a bit of money. Those three alone would/should provide £10m in transfer funds and free up £120k per week in wages. I'm almost as excited about getting rid of these reprobates as I am about any potential new signings.
I sudder to think what will happen if RvP doesnt sign. . .
We'd be left with;
A Morrocan who isnt very good,
A Korean who is not sure why he was brought in
and a German who will inherit a team that will give hom a chance to bring in his staving of relegation skills to the fore
Getting rid of some of these players could be a huge problem. Even if we dump them on a free the poxy agents try to hike the signing on bonus and paypacket to reflect the lack of a transfer fee. So much is in favour of the players these days, even the useless ones.
If Arsenal were a person instead of a football club, he wouldnt even want to pay for his own educational advancement. He would sit down, do a cost benefit analysis and conclude that going to trade school would in the long run be more prudent than going to Uni. I mean at the end of the day you can still have a laugh with your university mates in the same pubs and hit on the same Essex broads. Unowhatamean!
RVP wont stay until he sees what our ambition is by buying new quality players, we wont buy new players until we sell RVP and use the City cash to buy 3 Gervinho look-alikes. Failure therefore becomes a self fulfilling prophecy
I strongly think he'll leave. If he were to stay, he could have decided by now. Or he was probably told Arsenal would strengthen and what not, but then he'll see that the same was said to Henry/Cesc. So he may just wait and see if the board actually back it up , if not he'll go. The board are probably satisfied now, they got in Podolski for £10m, will sell RVP for £35m or so, and all they'll see is the profit that they can make. Podolski may be decent at international level, but he's no RVP.

I'm very suspicious of the Podolsi signing at this stage, I suspect he's just a replacement for RVP whom the club feel is going to leave. If he wanted to stay we should have done a deal by now, or we should have told him we need a decision so we can get a replacement in place (maybe we have in Podolski).
It might be they don't want to let the cat out of the bag till the season tickets have been purchased of course.
Renewals deadline passed already. Guess those rushing up the waiting list will be checkin out their finances....
