GIROUD!!!!
2-0 bif
NQ = :haha:
What a player
Wenger jumping up and down like a lunatic.
Bif heads in the second with total disregard for his quiff.
Wow! Ramsey does something positive at last. A good Giroud goal.
Alexis on 20 goals in the league and 9 (?) assists but he's no Mane so can't be in team of the year.
Theo.
Just retire mate.
We've actually defended their crosses pretty well today, won a lot of headers.
Giroud's positioning in the box and goal scoring instincts are much better than Welbecks.
0-2 FT.
FT 0-2
Absolutely rotten performance, bar one moment of quality involving Xhaka, Ozil and Alexis. Otherwise, rancid right across the pitch, from both teams.
Gibbs and Ramsey - what's that about then?
We have a striker who was on course to win the golden boot. But Wenger spotted that in the nick of time.
He would score more than Welbeck and Giroud imho.
Alexis this season:
46 games
25 goals
15 assist
Would have been 35 goals had wenger not intervened.
Lukaku is actually leading the league with 24. Always suspected he could get over 20..... and most people here aren't convinced by him. We went nuts when Adebayor got 25!
A win over Stoke and a favour from West Ham and that glorious trophy could be coming home.
Lukaku is fine on a farm. A good workhorse and plough, all in one. If we want to continue being top 4 also-rans he'll do, like Giroud. But if we want to progress and move into the upper ranks we'll have to set our sights a bit higher.
When did Giroud get anywhere near 24 league goals with a few league games ago.....and Lukaku is nowhere near as static or slow so although you're not comparing them...mentioning them in the same sentence really doesn't sit well.
We could have won the league last season and this season with better focus and direction with what we have nevermind adding anybody else.
Danny works hard and seems like a good guy but is the furthest behind when it comes to understanding the striker role. Unless in blistering form, I wouldn't start him there. Alexis is the obvious choice but lord knows what Wenger is thinking.
Giroud...I just wouldn't start him. He's a better sub.
Because Wenger will always do the opposite to what makes sense. If something starts working, Wenger will change it. If it's broken, he'll persist with it. I think he views himself as being in a unique position where he can spot qualiteeeees that nobody else can see. Only he had the vision to spot Sanogo's potential. Only he could see the value of Chamakh, everyone else missed it. And when Alexis started settling into the role of striker, Wenger could see there was a problem when every other fool thought things were working well. So Wenger stepped in and fixed things good and proper. The rest is long, painful and repetitive history.
I'm saying Lukaku and Giroud can play at a certain level, but if we want to start mentioning Arsenal in the same breath as the top European clubs we'll have to be more ambitious, particularly in the transfer market. As Arsenal fans we are all well aware of what constitutes top tier quality. Henry, Bergkamp, Vieira, direct equivalents may not be around today but we need to be looking in that type of shop window if we are serious. Otherwise we settle for the lower level.
Wenger
