Pumped for the 3 points but that was a really iffy performance. Didn’t feel like a 0-3 game at half time and allowing them to make a game of it was very avoidable.
When was the last time we won at WHL 2 seasons in a row? Big, big win and to be fair the points are the only thing that matter now.
Come on Forest.
Anyone got a debifrilator ??
I think there was a bit of bedshitting second half but I have to say given the context of the game, kind of understandable
This for me was our best away win of the season
It was completely self inflicted. Spurs would never have got back in to it on their own. We gifted them a goal and then a penalty to make a comfortable scoreline a stressful finish.
But in some ways maybe that makes the win more satisfying.
You just need to win the games at this stage. Doesn’t really matter how.
Horrible game but somehow we got through
Almost knew that would happen. That's why I hate too much celebration before the final whistle.
Three points most welcome though.
A good but nervy win and I've also happy in the knowledge that there is nothing wrong with my heart as it didn't somehow expode :good:
At this stage of the season, it really doesn’t matter how, we just have to win and win we did. Away derby days are never pretty which is why we seem to rarely win them and first time in 30 plus years I think that we won twice in a row there.
I actually thought Raya, after his mistake, was outstanding. He pretty much claimed everything that was thrown at him and not much he could do on the penalty as it was a good one but bar that, I don’t think spurs really had any clear chances from the endless balls pumped into the box. It doesn’t excuse the mistake which was just iditotic but given the collapse last year, the derby match etc, he could have easily collapsed and spurs walk off with a draw. He responded brilliantly.
Spud manager Ange was very complimentary about Arsenal and especially Arteta after the game.
He was also correct about not celebrating goals until after VAR has okayed them, if there is a VAR check.
I secretly quite like him too and actually he's doing a pretty good job at Spurs.
They've still typically Spursy, but he's got them playing pretty good football.
Seen a lot of clips of pure shit housing from Ben White
From undoing Vicario’s gloves to giving verbals to Son when he’s about to take a penalty
Good lad :haha:
I saw the glove thing.
Love it.
For years there's been a lot of "they don't like it up 'em". With people like him and Rice around there's a lot more steel about this side.
I think he's a miserable arsehole who is doing quite a bad job, he's basically relying on Son at one end and the goalie at the other plus Romero, who's kind of a poor man's Rodri
For example everyone knows what Ben White does when we get a corner, they had TWO WEEKS to plan for it but hey, Ben White had the freedom of the penalty area
He only knows one way to play which makes his job pretty simple but it's not going to win them anything
I dunno - this Spurs team reminds me of previous iterations of Arsenal. Excellent going forwards but lacking discipline and solidity, and capable of being got at. I'd be a bit worried if I were a Sp*rs fan  about him not bothering about corners etc - but long may this last.
I think this game showed where Arsenal have matured. I'd agree that this wasn't our best performance - and Sp*rs actually played quite well - with the benefit of 2 weeks' rest. But we managed the key moments better, and (bar 2 defensive mistakes that gifted them their goals) controlled the game when it mattered. Huge result.
I don't think you can play that well and be 0-3 at HT
People can talk about the chances they had but if you don't take your chances that's not "playing well".
They did take the best chance they had, tbh, but someone's toenail was offside so it got chalked off.
More VAR nonsense, although this one went for us.
I don't think Spurs were the better side. They had more possession but didn't do much with it. But it certainly wasn't a game which we deserved to be leading 3-0 at HT. That said, had we not self destructed with a Raya brainfart and conceding a late penalty, there's no way Spurs would have got back in to it. We lost possession too easily but Spurs didn't do enough with it, they never seriously threatened us.
Letting them have posession in wide areas and blocking them from getting into the middle where they could hurt us was the plan. Feature, not bug, as they say.
Notice how many crosses they had to put in, and who the best keeper in the league is at plucking crosses out of the air.
We were absolute shit, contrary to the bullshit a lot of the pundits are trolling out about dominance and "breaking" the spuds. The spuds dominated us, and quite easily. Because we were scared and our mentality sucks when it comes to the critical games. Nowhere near as badly as before, Arteta has fixed some of the problem. But we still shit a brick when the big games arrive. City game being the one rare exception, maybe because they think they have nothing to lose so they don't worry? Who knows. BUT. The spuds are SO SHIT, it didn't matter. I mean what a bunch of fucking useless clowns. That's 4 losses in a row at the business end of the season? Hilarious. If we hadn't beaten them I'd have been amazed. It was a guaranteed 3 points if we are in any way a serious club. So is the Utd game. Let's see if we turn up or hide.
So we absolutely were wrong to sit back against Spurs, soak up their pressure and hit them on the break ? Because…
We shit the bed in the second half and missed the chance to kill things off but oh well.
We didn’t play great against them or Bournemouth you’re quite right, but so what? We are winning games despite struggling to break teams down who sit back at home and are a bit nervy at the back. But a win is a win
It feels to me that you’re so conditioned to complaining that you need to find something to complain about.
